Pix found on eBay. TOO COOL! Driven by speed shop owner Steve Kanuika. Photos taken at Cecil County Drag-O-Way sometime in 1969. Strip of paper placed across the photo
sucks but heck, it's better than no pix at all, right? Check out the red interior! Original red car/red interior? Anyone know of this car's whereabouts? All I know is that the car was
sold to the Collins & Hickman racing team from Maryland or Delaware. They retained the same paint scheme sans Jungle Jim name on the door and raced it in Pro Stock during
the 1970-71 season.

Cool old pics. Too bad no jungle Pam pics! Could not have been too many red/red ZL-1's. Somebody has to know what happened to it.

Steve Kanuika, now there's a name out of the past. He had probably one of the last speed shops here in Dover Delaware sometime around the late 70's to early 80's. Really cool dude. Use to see him every once in a while on the odd Saturday in the store.

Wonder what ever became of that red/red Craigslist drag car we all looked at last year here?
Most of those same eBay pics are shown undefaced in the thread too.

I find it interesting that Jungle Jim's car has the short water pump and LH alternator arrangement. Is that the norm on ZL1's?

What is that radiator with the original tower clamps, a single core straight neck??? Looks hugger orange to me, garnet red is much darker.

The only ZL1 with a 718 interior was #62; was not Jungle Jims car.

drag racers are all about weight, especially in front of the wheels - probably a weight saving move (legal?)

Did any body notice the car in the background on the 8th pic down?
Is that a gold Yenko?
Joe.

I believe when I saw that car it was orange.

The fact that the Olympic Gold Yenko Camaro Super Stock Magazine Test Car is in the background of Jungle Jim Camaros photos makes me think that these photos could have very well been taken on the same day that the mag did the drag test for the July '69 issue.

How certain is it that Jungle Jim's car was one of the 69 ZL-1's?
Could he have just put a ZL-1 motor in another Camaro?

Hasn't it been clarified before that JJ's ZL1 was a transplant car?
Was the July '69 OG Yenko Super Stock Magazine test at the Cecil Cty. track?

I´m with Pete on this one. I´m sure I´ve read about the JJ ZL1 being a transplant car, just like Grumpy´s was.

Saw this car when new. I never heard or thought this car was a ZL-1 till recently.
But nobody ever really paid that much attention about that stuff back then. If it was it may have been a Roger Penske car?

I was told it is NOT a ZL1 car. I believe it's found and in New England now.

the car was definately not a ZL1 car..it was a transplant.
i spoke to Steve about this many years ago when this issue was brought up on this site..in another post.
He Said Not a ZL1 couldnt wait that long to get one..so they just took a 69 body and put the ZL1 in it..the car still holds a record.
