Paul M. Harvey, 92, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014. Paul was born on September 24, 1921 in Indianapolis to the late John W. and Pearl M. (Campbell) Harvey. Paul is a 1939 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School. After he graduated school, he entered the U.S. Navy and honorably served our country.

Paul was an avid sportsman from his younger years all the way through life. He loved golf, tennis, drag racing, skeet shooting, and basketball. He was an accomplished National Skeet Champion. In 1954 Paul was co-owner and General Manager with John Ford of Bob Ford, Incorporated, in Dearborn, MI. In 1958 Paul was General Manager of Ray McKay Ford in Indianapolis. In 1961, Paul was General Manager of Jerry Alderman Ford in Indianapolis. And in 1966, Paul opened his very own Ford dealership, Paul Harvey Ford. He founded, operated, and owned such for 44 years before selling the dealership in 2010. While in Dearborn and Indianapolis, Paul was very active in drag racing. He raced, sponsored, and supported his son Jerry in his own racing. Along with Paul’s many accomplishments with the dealerships, Paul also held many life-long memberships with Highland Country Club, Arsenal Tech Alumni Association, the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of Michigan, Shriner’s International, and Shriner’s North America.

Paul is survived by his loving companion and wife Joan Lipon Harvey; his son Jerry Harvey; grandchildren: Kimberly Harvey, Kyle (Ashley) Harvey, Kevin (Jody) Harvey, and Kent Harvey; great-grandchildren: Connor, Riley, Savannah, and Adelyn; and many nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his beloved siblings: John Harvey, Lester Bud Harvey, Reva Williams, Lucille Kountz, and Ruby Robertson.

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. as well as on Monday, April 7, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel. The funeral service will follow Monday’s visitation at the Mortuary at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be held with military rites. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, 7300 S. State Road 267, Lebanon, IN 46052; the Masonic Temple, 525 W. Illinois Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204; or donor’s choice. I think this is a different Paul Harvey. The on you are thinking of died here in AZ in 2009..... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/beers.gif
