Thanks for your help on my shifter now I am back for more help.
I am working on a 69 Chevelle SS with buckets and lap belts. The car came with the seat tracks off and no labels on tracks or seats. Also new seat belts. I spent 4 hours putting seats and tracks in every combination possible. I finally got the seats installed so they look right and they are straight. Now the problem. If I try to install the seat belt retractors there is not enough room. The retractor is forced up against the seat side plastic trim so tight it took the paint off. Super frustrating because there is no good photos in the shop manual, assembly manual or Fisher body manual.
I have the retractors on the metal wedge shaped things that angle them forward and I am using the factory bolts holes. This car has never had the floors replaced.
If anyone can give me some guidance or pictures that would be great!
These are from my copo..original floor as well.hope it helps.

That looks right to me. But the seats I am working on (it is an SS if that is important) have this large plastic trim that goes around the bottom cushion on the sides. In the area in your photo where there is black vinyl behind the seat belt trim I have this large plastic trim. It is butted against the belt trim so tight I can move the seat! Could the seat trim be location speific?
bucket seats..doh!..I have one of those too..a tight fit yes. cant get to that one for pics right now
Here's a few photos of my 69 Chevelle SS, unrestored, seats never out.
Hope this helps. I also have some loose 69 buckets if you need more photos. Those I will have to take, these were on file.

Ryan,
You got it bad.
But then again, I guess most of us do too.

PS. To round out the redness, red GM litter container came from Big Steve (68L30)

These look exactly as I expected! Thank you very much. Now to figure out why mine are so fouled up. My belt retractor is in the same place relative to the sill plate. But the plastic seat trim up against the retractor (without the cover even on) solid.
Are tracks and seats location specific? I switched them all around but maybe a photo of a seat bottom with the track on would clear this up. Who would have thought THIS would bring me to a stop???
Thank you for the photos.

I have a question for you. Were the bucket seats added at some time on your car ? Was it a bench seat car originally ?
Mike
I had the same thought Mike..a bench to bucket conversion gone wrong? <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif..does'nt the one side of the bench mount get reused?..or do they have to be moved over as well??

Yes, one spot used on the bench gets used, I think I have some ref shots.
When you do this conversion you are welding in the bench seat brackets. If they are not located correctly that might present a problem. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif

Original bucket seat car. Original floors. I just spent two hours with the owner who said it was original SS, these seats and these track. I am completely at my wits end.
To verify some basics. The seat adjuster goes on the outside of the seat closest to the doors. The adjuster allow you to move the seat by PULLING the lever forward. The inner brackets appear to be the same side to side. The inner brackets have two holes on one end and one hole on the other. The end of the brackets with TWO holes goes to the back of the seat. This makes each one position specific. The seats I believe are not specific until you bolt the brackets on. Is this true?
They can only bolt in the car one way using one set of holes. There are two front bolt hole, two outer rear and one inner rear hole on each side.
When I put the drivers seat in working only on the outer track (with the adjuster handle) in with the front single bolt in and the rear over to the farthest hole I can put the seat belts in like it is supposed to be there. But the inner bracket rear hole is off about 1".
Anyone have a photo of a seat upside down so I can confirm I am not nuts?
