I wonder how they'll ruin these two cars..............lets see; put some airbag suspension, some 20's all around, save the "patina" and clear coat over the rusted paint...............get me a beer................

Maybe it is just me, but I just never cared to place a huge premium on the "first" or "last" built of anything. It won't make it any more enjoyable to drive or even loon at. How many times you gonna go out in the garage or shop and take a peak at the 00001 vin? It is a novelty, but not much more to me.

As for Holy Grail of "muscle cars"???? Normally the first few off the line back then were very plain jane low performers. So, unless a 327 210 horse 67 Camaro now qualifies as a muscle cars, I think not.

I had a hard time making it through an episode of this show, and am still sad about the wasted 60 minutes of my life...

Seriously though, these cars are pretty neat but that show is an insult to my intelligence, and I am pretty easily entertained. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif

And this is the Holy Grail of Muscle Cars? I guess that confirms my thoughts about the show and the cast. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif

I don't get it! Chuck just bought these two cars on eBay a few months back off the same guy. They were no big deal then. Everybody had a chance and they were sold for around 25k I thought. Now they are the 2 biggest finds? Didn't Chuck have something to do with that 427 vette a while back with the show? Sounds like the show is getting stupid fast. No offense Chuck but I really don't see that big of a deal here. What's next for the show?

It's on TV right now. GMG sold them for 325k and is gonna restore for another 325k and has to complete in 60 days or lose 10k for every day late. This is just stupid.

$650k for two first generation Firebirds? I understand that, being the first two cars built, they hold some significance but, that's one hell of a premium to pay in my opinion.
I saw bits and pieces of the show last night and they kept saying they were doing a concourse restoration on the cars; then I see the subframe for the #1 car with all of the pitting still there.

I don't have the hate for the show. I don't beleive or agree with everything they do either. Heck some of the things they do look like fun though. They figured out a way to get paid for having fun and doing what they like. Sounds like they are living the dream and you don't have to be the most polished or skillful person when you're doing that. I say good for them.

Tough crowd!! Car (TV) shows are coming back is a good thing!! Their was over 30 shows on TV back in 05. More the better!!
They are dealers and welcome to there world!! Most DEALERS have done this kind of work when they first come out and some are still doing this!! Make them look pretty from 5 feet away!! These guys are pretty funny and tell me when they have a pig with lipstick!! Real funny guys to hang with!! I was offered these cars and they sold for big money!! Congrats to them!!

exactly my feelings Lynn. I can buy alot of "musclecars" cars for that kind of money. Boring cars IMO

Just watched it last night and it made me completely sick. I have nothing against making money but I do when it comes to taking advantage of someone else and especially when it comes to destroying a piece of history. These cars deserved a much better restoration than they received. You cannot restore a car to "concours" quality in 60 days....sorry! The claimed cost of total restoration was also a complete joke. Not sure where they came up with their figures other than for show drama. I agree on needing more car tv shows but not at the expense of ruining these cars. Some of these guys need to go find a dirty lethargic pig, clean it up, feed it and sell it for a profit instead of making a pig out of some of the cars. They are making a mockery of our hobby. Let the flaming begin.

IMHO...I think the cars were bought for all the money. The reality stopped right there. I believe the rest is all TV hocus pocus. It's entertainment for most everyone out there and a bit insulting to the other 2% out there that really get it. Good bad or otherwise, looks like they can restored again if someone needs a pristine #1 & #2.

The bigger issue is.....Wonder what hit the dumpster and how many prototype or differnet processess were used when building #1 & #2? Somethings must have been hand fabbed and such.I'd love to see some detail pics of the floors, cowl, interior..ect. I just hope nothing cool is lost. I've seen some cool 68 stuff that would most certainly be overlooked by others.

Looking forward to next weeks show.....it will be entertaining. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif

I kind of wondered about that myself...the usage of repro parts? I hate using that stuff on my own car and I did not pay 325K for it either or anywhere close. Further, I would think or assume some of those original parts and panels would have unique pre-production variances in their details. Seems these details are what would make the cars a "study" and that was all lost in using the repro stuff. Plus, did anyone think of documenting the differences or uniqueness with only 60 days to do resto? Why let A** Monkeys, Hot Rodders, do resto work?

All the more reason for not wanting to watch this show and others like it. I see these guys at several auctions a year and people always swoon over them wanting their picture taken with them. Please......... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/sick.gif It is truly sad when you have to make up material to sell a show. Inventing the drama is bad enough. Unfortunately there are just too many people that watch these shows and take is as gospel. If I hear another "did you see what that one sold for at Barrett-Jackson" comment one more time when I go look at some farmers car I will puke. It is shows like these that really pollute the hobby.

The show may not be a hit toward the hobbyist, but from a business aspect for me, my phone has rung off the hook for 3 weeks non stop and I even have another reality show wanting to do a similar show with something that is more exciting IMO than the firsbirds. I cant thank fast n loud enough for all of this.

Did anyone notice on the coupe the front subframe was the mid 68 to 69 with the access holes on the inside and
3 holes above. I also saw the part where they were hounding the guy installing the tire on the rear end for one of the firebirds. It look to have the 2 big round eyes on top of the center carrier.
