Just looking for info on which insurance company offers the most for our hobby and God forbid pay a claim in the event one needed to filed. I'd read somewhere that one the carriers has an option to put a stated amount on your car during the restoration phase as well which is interesting. I've worked in insurance claims for years and there's so much fine print in a policy that one must be extremely careful on a specialty car like most of us own.

I switched from Condom $ Skelley after 29 years to MK. No comparison, MK and Tamera are the best! AND...... I only live 15 minutes from their office in Maple Shade, NJ!

Hagerty. Several friends use them - paid out claims with no issues.

I agree with Kurt. I have not had any claims to deal with, but the premiums are about the best i found. And the more cars you have the more youll see the premiums drop.

I have 6 cars insured threw Hagerty and never had a problem one with them. However I've never had to make a claim and hope never to.

I vote for Hagerty, only because I know of some folks having no issues with them. They also worked with me with ideas to reduce my premium when I lost my job. Even though I got a new job, I kept that same plan: some cars as drivers, and some cars in a storage state, but with full coverage I can float to which cars I drive. You do have to be careful with understanding the limitations of a stored car. For them trying to keep me insured in tough times, I give them a major thumbs up!
Plus, Hagerty has publicly discussed their appreciation for survivor cars, and will likely be compassionate towards the correct repair strategy a customer may request.
.... I recommend MK Insurance because I have heard nothing but good comments
from people that use them on this site.
Just ask a few that you know.
Good luck on your decision <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

I have my car and a 52 Harley insured with hagerty. Both for a long time. No claims but they have a great reputation and the prices are hard to beat as well.

Hello everyone, Mk Insurance offers competitive collector auto with multiple carriers including Hagerty. It has been my experience that Hagerty is not the lowest premium and that is why we use several differenct carriers including American Modern. All of my products are agreed value and I customize the product to each client. It has been my experience that American Modern usually has a premium savings over Hagerty. Feel free to call me for a quote at 1-866-695-2774 or email at

I have my cars insured with MK and have had nothing but the best experiences. Their rates were far better than Hagerty (which seemed to go up every year).
I have also had claims, which is the true test of a collector car policy. MK performed wonderfully during the process. Two were broken windshield claims and one for a door chip in my Grandmother's Firebird that in order to repair properly, required the entire side of the car to be painted/blended. They paid for everything by direct deposit within hours of receiving the estimate, and never required any other estimates other than the original one from the repair shop.
The broken windshield claims paid for new date coded glass from Pilkington Classics, too.

That is impressive Steve.
I currently have J.C. Taylor Antique Insurance. Try calling them and get a quote. Here's their webpage...

I have been insured with Tami for 17 years. I have had two claims, and both were handled without issue. Tami takes care of all the details. Nothing against any of the other companies, just sharing my experience.

I have had one claim with MK, via American. Both Tami and Jackie at their office really followed up to make sure I was taken care of.
I had a 69 Camaro Vert, and the lug nuts were defective Chinese crap (dont trust your nuts to just anyone guys <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif ). Rear wheel came off at 30mph.
I was able to take the camaro to my repair shop and MK worked with AM to make sure the camaro was fixed properly and to spec.
I was and am pleased. I also bug the heck out of Jackie when I lose the insurance cards and decide last min that I want to drive a particular car, and she always emails me a card promptly so I can go have fun! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

Tami, has anything changed in the last year or so, as I had you give me a quote for my cars and you were quite a bit higher than Hagerty at that time. I still have Hagerty, but would consider changing if the price has come down.

I suggest MK Insurance. Tami & Jackie have always been there to help and we have refereed quite a few clients to them all who have been pleased.

I switched from J.C. Taylor to Chubb. I met the Chubb people at Pebble Beach and so far they are GREAT!!! They sponsor the Gooding and Co. Auctions and I met the Chubb VP (Jim) and several staff members through my friend Cliff Gooding. Chubb insures all of my Oldsmobiles and the 'Vette at agreed upon prices and the rates are extremely fair. Jeff, (my local rep.) has been very helpful, courteous, and anything I need is only a phone call away. I can't say enough good about the people and the service!

Going to be shopping around for insurance for my Nova and was curious what kind of trouble people have with insuring Pro Street cars with roll cages? I have American collectors on my parents 69 SS396 Chevelle. I will start there first.

I have Hagerty and had to file a claim about 5 years ago. I was very satisfied with their service so I recommend them.

Looks like I will be switching from JC Taylor to MK. The only claim I ever had on the Chevelle occurred last month. My windshield claim entailed lots of follow up and took 3 weeks to settle.

That stinks. Like I said before, I had two windshield claims and they were settled in minutes, with MK. Very speedy resolution.
