Wow, I wonder if he's selling his entire collection? This article makes it seem so...

He "WAY" overpayed for a large part of his collection. Some of the cars might make money, but a large portion of them he will take a hit on.

He's probably rich enough not to care.

He's a Billionaire,
He makes more money a day than what a lot of those cars are worth.
Lot of people in his position over pay for things. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

Ron Pratt bough a lot of cars that were charity offerings, overpaid but got a huge tax write off for his chatitable giving. After 12 years of "power buying" at BJ. (never saw him at any other auctions), makes you wonder was his connection to BJ more than just a car guy buying some cool toys. I am sure everyone of his offerings will get maximum block time and we will get sick of Craig grabbing the mike and saying "its way below the money". Well Craig, Ron was the money in a lot of purchases, so come up with a new line.
Not sure of Rons age but like a lot of other collectors over tha past few years, some little voice has said, time to move thr collection, no wait, that is what my wife keeps telling me.

Hope it's not a health issue making him sell.Sometimes age or bad health make toys seem less important.

Very interesting. He's got a few cars I'm sure I would like, but no dollars on hand to pursue. He's a class guy from what I could tell and contributed millions through the charity auctions over the years. Good luck to him.

But cash hasn't been depreciating the last few years like some of the muscle cars have.

Don't know Mr. Pratt personally but from what I have seen at the BJ auctions over the years he is a Class-A Act - good luck to him.

People sell for all sorts of reasons, whether its boredom, age etc. I think that he will do very well overall and wish him the best. There always seems to be new money entering the hobby that over pays for cars and BJ is the best example of that.

Here's an update. Looks like he's selling it all, including the Futureliner.

You would look especially snappy in that, wearing a vintage Greyhound or Trailways bus driver uniform <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

He did sell a number of cars a few years ago...and set a world record with his Tucker I believe..Dont think he will get 4 large for the futureliner...be surprised if it reaches 7 figures.

Time marches on and the age group chasing a certain era of cars "thins out" Look what has happened to the older Hot rod crowd. Some of those 40 Ford coupes that cost 150-200k to build are getting 50-60k now and the crowd chasing them is very small and getting smaller. Just my .02

Yep, and there's not much new money coming in from younger people. Those of them with money are just not interested in cars. People who might want collector cars have much less disposable income than a decade (or more) ago too. The times, they are a-changing.

Will be fun to watch on TV <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif
