What can anyone tell me about Bauman Chevrolet in Wilkinsburg PA?

Well, was excited to get my delivery info in the mail today. My worst fear came true, looks like the dealership is out of business. I would guess there is no way to get any old information from the dealership.

Interesting though. Shipped to Bauman Chevrolet in Wilkinsburg, PA., Dealer code 75/zone 13. I bought the car in Wisconsin in 1989. Was it a dealership transfer? Bought there and moved? Just another piece of the puzzle I'm trying to put together.

Here is the thread I started on my car, any help appreciated!

That's interesting. There was a Bauman Chevrolet in Pittsburgh in 68 on Penn Avenue.

That's the address I have found. 428 S. Penn Ave Wilkinsburg PA. Looks like Wilkinsburg is a suburb of Pitt.

I'm also in the process of doing a title search in PA to see if it really did start it's life there.

I believe have a vintage (late 60s era) license plate frame from there from way back when someone in my Mothers family bought a new car there. I will try and post some pictures in a few days.

There's a Bauman Wilkinsburg LS6 Coupe in the registry also someone was here looking for info on a Bauman delivered Monaco Orange '70 L34 Coupe before too.
Bauman Chev was sold to ex Pittsburg Steelers running back Jerry Nizum in 1975 who had a crazy story in his past, see below links also there's lots more Bauman info online.

I may be interested in that if you would part with it.

Did the NCRS for the late Tom Billigan's Non-Converted 68 Yenko Car and it came back
as <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Yenko Delivered</div></div>- as expected. Definitely worth checking as his car had a lot of controversy around the fact that he bought it at Kenny Ross Chev.

His car and mine were one of the last ones brought into Yenko and before conversion to the 427 it was sent to Kenny Ross as a some type of dealer trade - or to just move the inventory.

<span style="font-size: 14pt">Good info Eddie. I still remember the Kenny Ross jingle - I think his grandma or aunt got in on the advertisement. Thanks</span>

....and I am impressed that you can post a document to this thread (or should I be directing that to Kimberly)! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/naughty.gif <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/wink.gif

The Kenny Ross deal was you got a jar of elderberry jelly from his Aunt Penny.

I bought my first new Camaro from Kenny Ross Chevrolet in 1989, and got the jelly.

Has anyone had any luck with vintage title searches in Penn? Getting ready to send off the paperwork and confidence is low.

Since you bought the car in Wisconsin in 1989 and it was titled in Pennsylvania prior to that date, you will likely get a letter back from Penndot stating that they searched their records and they could find no record of your vehicle in their files. This is because Penndot has two systems. The first system is the system they search and it includes all current records and the most information. This system however may or may not note that the record has been purged. If the record has been purged, it &quot;should&quot; be on the second system or at least there should be a reference to the purge date in the second system and the owner information would then be on a disc in the research department. This is all provided that the record was originally put onto the computer. (This appears to have happened sometimes and not others). Additionally, if the person performing the search does not know what he/she is looking for or how to navigate the old systems you may get a letter stating no record available when a record is actually &quot;available&quot; the searcher however did not know how to retrieve it. In any search submitted to Penndot I would include a cover letter specifically asking them to perform a manual search of purged records, including microfilmed or indexed records of purged data in response to your request.

Best of Luck

When you submit the form, select 'title history' and ask for the oldest archived record. Those 2 things have gotten me the best results, but no guarantee's - apparently, a large amount of records were 'lost' and they are not in either computer. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/mad.gif
