Tom, thanks for the information. Based on a Google search, it looks like Martin Chevrolet is now Diane Sauer-Martin Chevrolet? With the recent release of the Camaro records through NCRS, I found out my 69 Z-28 was delivered new to Martin Chevrolet. It is an X-77 D80 car and was originally Code 71 Blue with standard Black 711 interior and currently shows about 300 miles (yes 300) on the odometer. The ownership history is not yet 100 percent complete, but the story is the car was raced from day one, hence the ultra low miles.

It was not cut up but does have slight rolled rear fender lips and a very slight widening of the wheel wells. It has a 6 point roll bar and is now painted black. The entire bottom floor of the car was painted white and the front discs converted to drums for low rolling resistance, both common drag racer mods. There are a couple of old track decals on the windshield and the last one I think is from 1977 and says "Div. 3 ET Finals" Beech Bend Raceway.

To my knowledge it stayed its whole life in the general vicinity of that portion of Ohio and I purchased it out of Ohio 10+ years ago. Given its life in Ohio, it is still 99% rust free, and that also seems to back-up the story of it being a day-one race car that was garaged with the low miles.

I will try to post up a couple of pictures and perhaps you might remember it. Of course a long shot, but I wonder if the dealership has a stack of old files perhaps stored offsite somewhere. Would love to know more about the early history of the car. I am now looking at getting it back on the road before too long and with the release of the records from NCRS my interest is rekindled in the car.

Thanks again.

Perhaps someone from Ohio knows the car? Originally a blue with white stripes Z-28, but not sure when it was painted black. Very straight car and 99% rustfree. I'm thinking of leaving it pretty much as is and just get it running initially and then perhaps a repaint in the correct blue and then day two the car. Still considering options.

Opinions?

Cool Z! Canfield is my hometown. I left there at age 17 in 1976. I don't recall the car or Jensens.

It looks like Meissner's is still around as "Meissner's Auto and Tire" now, but I didn't find anything online regarding Canfield Performance. I have no idea when the car was lettered up, but likely in the early 70's. Hoping someone from the area knows something as the car's early ownership history isn't clear.
