I plan to go look at this car, and know nothing about pontiacs, other than I love the way this car looks and the price.
Is there anything obvious I should be careful of? I am afraid as soon as I sit in it, I will buy it.

Great to see someone restored that old bird back to stock!

I did just spot blue paint under the black on one of the lower rocker shots, maybe its not a true black car. Probably jumped the gun posting on yenko.net. sorry.

Sharp looking car in that color combination...undercarriage shots show some rust on front suspension pieces...could be how it was stored or time since resto???

Always best to have a "disinterested" third party along when you look at a car...helps to balance out "emotional urges" <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif

Look it over carefully top and bottom...have them put it on a lift so you can thoroughly check the underside.

Here are a few things I saw from the photos:
Blue paint??..Engine hoses have screw clamps, is carb original?, trunk mat looks like it doesn't fit?, aftermarket radio, scattershield, seatbelts...no GM id..aftermarket?...text says "the interior was completely restored"...steering wheel and dash trim around gauges looks worn...same thing with heater controls...has a Hurst shifter...they were vague about engine condition...check oil pressure, exhaust smoke, noises, etc.

I like the look of these early Birds...very sharp...depending on your requirements for "fit and finish" it may still need a little work and $$.

Good luck...wilma

thanks, I think this car,if a true 326HO would have the side stripes (hopefully in red).
I think odds are it will be too good to be true. The color combo is killer though. It looks like a mediocre restoration actually.

-Not original engine (if it was they would have absolutely stated it in the ad).
-Lots of repro and dimestore auto parts.
-Camaro front spoiler.
-Not an original black/red car (once again, knowing Volo, they would have stated that in the listing if it was).
-Really grungy underside except for the spots where the floor panels were repaired.
-Have them send you the PHS sheet and post it here. We can decipher it for you.

Average driver "restoration".

Actual value is around $18,000.

Even if it had its original HO 326 engine, those cars do not bring the $ that a 400 ragtop would.

Kind of like comparing values of a 1967 327 Camaro ragtop to a 1967 Camaro SS350 ragtop.

Wow, love that car. Big 68 Firebird 400 4 speed fan myself, owned 2 of them. To add to Wilma's post, the emblems on the rally wheels should be black background with red PMD, IIRC the red background didn't come out until 1970??, Not too sure about the red inserts in the lug nut's, there were black inserts too. The passenger seat is missing the stop cable. If it is a true 326 HO it should have the stripes on the side unless that was a delete. I wonder if this Bird was documented thru PHS?

Gorgeous looking car but the steering box could have used a good washing before the photos. Can't say I'm a fan of how the floors were replaced as well.
