There is at least one documented 1969 COPO Camaro that was built at the Van Nuys plant. Could be a handfull more.

The "docs" for the alleged LA COPO consist of poor copies of a tattered Body Broadcast Copy. Non OE drivetrain.

If it is a burnished brown Copo, I questioned that car back in 1985 or 86 when I first had the chance to view it and hear the story. I have a 1972 Car Craft article about a team that purchased an original Copo Camaro for drag racing and they were based out of California and they flew to Norwood for a factory delivery and drove it back to CA. I assume that they purchased it through a dealer and were able to get to car quicker.

I guess that it could mean many things, but I have always been under the understanding that the Copo camaros were all built at Norwood. I guess until I see valid documentation, I will stand with that thought.

I know you're asking about Camaros, but always thought all the COPO Chevelles came from Baltimore, until Bobs Van Nuys COPO Chevelle appeared, then a couple Kansas Leeds assembled showed up too.

I had a 69 Chevelle COPO motor from a Kansas car that many thought had to be fake as they never built any Kansas COPO cars. Jerry certified the stamp as real. Then Rogers Velle COPO surfaced with original paperwork and the original owner (roger) and it was a Kansas COPO.

All that to say, I would not be to quick to say there were none made unless there were some definitive evidence such as a corporate memo or something.

Wasnīt the alleged LA COPO bought by a friend of Charley ? It has been discussed here before but I donīt think is was questioned. I even think Kurt S said it was the real deal, but I could be wrong.

I think it would be cool to find van nuys workers that could help us know what happened at that plant.

The Burnished Brown one is the car CK Spurlock used to have, isn't it?
Lots of questions and rumors over the years but does anyone have something solid, positive or negative?
