View Full Version : 2015 MCACN Hemi Cuda and Challenger converts

This is a early call out for 2015 MCACN. The goal is to get all the Hemi Cuda and Hemi Challenger converts we can for the largest gathering of them ever. I have no idea how many have ever been in one place at the same time but with all the attention on the recent sale of one this should be a great display. If you have one you are invited. Please get ahold of Bob Ashton or me. It really is a chance to be a part of something special and the car world will appreciate the chance to see a bunch of them in one spot. We had 19 ZL1's a couple years ago, can we beat that ?

Charlie, dont you mean 2014? With this year being the 50th anniversary of the hemi, most hemi owners would be motivated to celebrate their ownership this year.

This very special gathering will indeed be for the 2015 show, as we have a very special Hemi invitational display this year that I can proudly state, will blow you away, with some of the finest and rarest original Hemi cars from 1964-1971 including several "one of one" examples.

We already have in excess of TEN Hemi E-body convertibles confirmed for 2015. In order to continue to "raise the bar" for the MCACN show, we are all working to continue to maintain our reputation as the show for participants and spectators, and we want to make sure we never get stale or boring. To do this, our team is always working to make sure we enjoy continued success.

Time to start making my 2015 plans! Aren't all of the Hemi E-Body Convertible Cuda's accounted for? How about the Challengers?

Is the NHOA (National Hemi Owners Association) still in existence? I belonged to that organization for about 15 years back in the 80's and 90's. At that time, they had a database of cars known to exist....don't know if they could be of any help or not.

At this time, we know of almost all of the '70 and '71 E-body convertibles in existence. Although we may not host them all, I am confident that we will host more than anyone has ever seen in one place at one time. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/worship.gif

Who would like to see a Limited Edition hardcover book that tells the story of each of the participating cars in this gathering? In researching them, the stories are incredibly interesting...and surprising!

In doing some research, I find the stories are absolutely mind blowing on some, in fact most of these cars. This is going to not only be fun, but pretty entertaining!

Funny you should ask...

I literally just returned from a trip out to Portland, where I photographed EIGHT of the participating '70 and '71 Hemi'Cuda convertibles along with two of the Hemi Challenger R/T convertibles from The Brothers Collection.

To date we have 21 confirmed, and I am meeting with the owner of potential #22 in a few days.

Now, as I often say when talking about MCACN...just close your eyes and picture that for a moment... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/drool.gif

Has Dave Blake agreed to bring some of his?

The last Hemi-Challenger rag built sits here in Toronto....it's a friend. Hemi orange 4-speed. Needs a full resto. Tried to buy it 378 times....he won't sell.

Indeed, the Blake family will be joining us with four of their five Hemi E-body convertibles. (the 5th is on a rotisserie).

If you can connect me to the owner of the last Hemi Challenger convertible, I would love to extend the invite, restored or basket case! He is pretty much the only current owner we have been unable to connect with. [email protected] or 586-549-5291.

Once again.....THANKS to all involved with the show, ya knocked out of the park. What a show!!! And like I say to all who are into muscle cars "if you only hit one car show per year, this is it."

Also a big thanks to all who trailered their cars to and from the show!

Taking into account the ugly weather, how late did it get before all the cars were out of the convention hall?

So what was the final count of E body Hemi convertibles at the show?
Is it possible to post at least one picture of each one?

Thanks for the links.
A few questions.
Were both of the 71 hemi cuda blue 4 speeds at the show?
Was the yellow 70 Cuda with tan interior from Canada at the show?
The white on white 70 cuda is a real nice combo I can't say I ever come across that one before on web or magazines, any more details?
How many known cars didn't attend the show?

Dave

Charley Lillard

White on white one used to be a drag car on propane. Yellow Cuda, tan interior from Legendary was there.

I have photos of the white, propane-powered race car from the 1986 Musclecar Nationals. If I recall correctly, he was running 10.90s with the car at the time. Heavily tubbed and caged race car.

Would have loved to have seen the book with all the stories on the various E body vert Hemis that were at the show.
Are any of them true survivor cars?
Seems like many of them have had interesting pasts and have been restored back to original.

Steve,

I was the one who gave your phone number & information to the Brother's Collection so they could get in touch with you about the photos & broadcast sheet. They were very appreciative you were willing to part with them & in a later conversation with Kevin Suydam, he agreed they belonged with it. (He also said he wished he had known about them when he owned it.) <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/wink.gif

Hi Chris,

It never occurred to me back when Kevin owned it, to get it to him. It was just one of many restoration albums I have from prior cars. I figured I was the offical archivist of my old cars. I have had the yellow car's restoration album containing all the "before" photos and the "in process" photos since I did the car back in 1986. Looks like the work held up nicely in 29 years. I also had fogotten I had that extra broadcast sheet since the car had so many of them. I found it recently while cleaning out an old desk in my son's room.

Hey, if the Brother's Collection don't want them maybe Kevin does. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif

Can you share any more info on the car? Just curious as someone from the Toronto area, I do remember seeing the Orange 71 Hemi Cuda vert at a local indoor show back in the day. Has it always been a Canadian car? Does the owner plan on ever restoring the car?

Probably not my first choice for colour but not as bad as I thought.
Where was pic taken?
Is the black line that goes from one end to the other factory? Is it a body side moulding to prevent door dings?
