#169 This COPO Chevelle is B393881 and was purchased new by T. Innes at Proudt in Elyra OH after being dealer transferred from Rodenfels in Parma Heights OH. This is the only existing Burgundy COPO Chevelle that I know of. This is also an automatic car with buckets and a console. It was restored by John Burlage. Mick Price had it at MCACN in 2018.

This COPO has chambered exhaust.... heavenly sounds!!!

This is the original owner Tom Innis with his old car when I showed the Copo at the Chevelle Nationals 2019. He told me his father took the ownership of the car when he went to the service.

#171 This COPO Camaro is N668846 and was sold new at Konner's Chevrolet in Columbus OH. It's my understanding that this car does not have any of it's original drivetrain, but it does have a correct drivetrain. Fran Roberts had it at the Chevy Vette Fest in '06 where it won a Gold Spinner and the Top Gun award. It was at the Mecum Auction in Indy in '19 where it bit to $115K.

#172 This COPO Camaro is N668741 and was purchased new at Hairston Chevrolet in Chesapeake OH by Ron Fry. It was featured in the December '90 issue of Muscle Car Review when it was still owned by Ron. This is a 9K mile original drivetrain unrestored car that is documented with it's original window sticker, POP and Bill of Sale. It was a part of the 69 Camaro 50th Anniversary Display at the Good Guys show in Columbus in '19.

I have posted pictures of this car before from Mecum Indy in '09 and MCACN in '12. It is N663697 and was sold new at E. B. Smith Chevrolet in Nashville TN. As far as I can tell it is the only 69 Yenko Camaro that they sold. It was originally restored back in the mid 80's and appeared in the February '86 issue of Guide to Muscle Cars and the November '86 issue of Chevy High Performance when it was owned by J. Price. It was restored without the vinyl top and that wasn't reinstalled until after the Mecum auction in '09. According to the auction writeup this car has it's original drivetrain. Dennis Albaugh had it at the Good Guys Show in Columbus in '19.

Here is another picture of N579576. It was sold new at Jack Douglass Chevrolet in Hinsdale IL. I believe this is the only known X66 Rallye Green Yenko Camaro. It was restored by the Super Car Workshop and was a part of Wayne Schmeekle's collection before he sold it at Mecum Kissimmee in 2016. According to the auction writeup it has it's original engine and BE rear. Dennis Albaugh had it at the Good Guys Show in Columbus in 2019.

#41 N615229 falls into the 'limbo' category. I spoke with the last known owner many years ago. It was raced into the late '70s, not heavily modified at that time. Sold and hasn't been heard from since. If it still exists, possible the owner does not know it is a ZL1. Wouldn't be the first time.

#45. This is ZL-1 #58 and it was sold new at Indian River in Cocoa Beach FL. It is one of two Garnet Red ZL-1's. This is an original D80 and VE3 car that came equipped with Rallys. This is a very low mileage car, but to my knowledge it doesn't have it's original engine. It was restored by Floyd Garrett back in the mid 80's and I saw it at the Super Chevy Sunday in Indy soon after it was restored. It was featured in the January 1987 issue of Super Chevy and the November 1999 issue of Muscle Car Review.

Here are some more pictures of ZL-1 #35. This car was purchased new at Sutliff Chevrolet in Harrisburg PA by D. Leesman. The spoilers and Rally wheels were dealer added. Rusty Symmes was the second owner of this car and he restored it in the early '80's. I remember seeing it at the Super Chevy Show in Indy soon after it was restored. Rusty also raced it in the Muscle Car Shootout sponsored by Muscle Car Review around this time as well. It ran 12.70's and was one of the faster cars. This car has a little over 8K miles and does not have it's original engine. Mark Hassett has owned it for a number of years now and had it on display at the Good Guys Show in Columbus in '19.

#178 This is ZL-1 #62 and was purchased new by Johnny Tripp at Colonial Chevrolet in Norfolk VA. It may have been a dealer trade from Hechler Chevrolet in Highland Springs VA. This is the only Garnet Red ZL-1 with a red interior. A number of years ago there was a very nice clone of this car built that supposedly had the original engine from this car in it. I don't know that the engine was ever verified to be the original engine from this car though. This car was a part of Buddy Herin's collection and was sold at Mecum Dallas in '13. Tim Schell had this car at the Good Guys Show in Columbus in '19 where it was nominated as a Muscle Car of the Year Finalist.

I have always wondered about that clone with the original engine from this car.... buy both and make the clone a total clone.

As I remember the story the guy that had the engine wanted to buy the car, but the guy who owned it wouldn't sell. When the guy who owned the engine couldn't buy the car he built the clone. I saw the clone once at an ISCA show and it appeared to be a very well done car. I believe the clone ended up in Todd Werner's collection. I mention the clone to Tim one time when I talked to him. I believe he had heard about the clone but wasn't sure about the engine being the original one out of #62.

#196 This is N184972 and YS601 and is one of the early Yenko Stompers that was built from an SS350 car. There are four Stompers listed in the registry, but at far as I know only this car and YS604 are known to still exist. They are both 02E cars. Once the big blocks came out Don started using those and numbered them beginning with YS701. They are all 05C and later cars. This car was purchased new at Lou Bachrodt Chevrolet in Rockford IL by Joe Higgins Sr. This car is documented with its original POP, invoice and window sticker. It is a 15K mile car and still has its original transplant block as well. This car was featured in the September '10 issue of Muscle Car Review. At that time it was owned by the original owner's son and was unrestored with an older repaint. It was at MCACN in '12 as part of the large Yenko display that year. It has since been purchased by P. Mitchell and restored by Level One Restorations and was a Premier Unveiling at MCACN this year.

This car was in Todd Werner's collection for many years until he sold it at Mecum Harrisburg in 2019. This car used to have orange houndstooth seat inserts, but that has been corrected. It also appeared on the cover of Super Chevy a number of years ago, but was nowhere to be found inside the magazine. M. D'Amico had it at MCACN this year.

NO! NOT MY YELLOW CAR!!! But look next to it. SAME CAR! When Keith Pflieger from Cinnaminson, NJ owned it for years, we'd cruise together and spin heads on the streets of South Jersey. That's Keith with the beard looking towards the camera. This photo was from Philly's World of Wheels Show at the Civic Center. We always set-up displays for the many shows we attended.

William

COPOs 9560 & 9561 probably required ordering an optional tire.

Original docs for N661680 still exist; built with PL5 F70 x 14 RWL tires as were most of them. But could have been ordered with PW8 F70 x 14 Red Stripe Tires.

Only COPOs ordered with #9737 received E70 x 15 tires.

Of the eight COPOs Mac's sold, only one known to exist. Also sold ZL-1 #22.

As far as I know it is the only known COPO that is Garnet Red with a white vinyl top and red deluxe interior. This is also an original drivetrain car with 29K miles. According to the original owner he purchased the car in Lincoln NE. Crete is only 20 miles or so from Lincoln so it may have been dealer transferred. The car spent its early years in CO and was wrecked and put into storage in '77. It went to KS in '83 and remained in storage until a couple of years ago when the restoration began. From looking at some of the pre restoration photos the car was fairly complete but needed the passenger side sheet metal replaced. This car was restored by Big Creek Restoration in Ellis KS. My dad was the 2nd owner of that car. He purchased the car in the 1973-74 range from the original owner (Larry Lowe). He bought the car on a Wednesday and blew the motor up Friday night at Keystone Raceway Park. He raced the car for years at Keystone Raceway and Peterson Memorial Dragway (Tipton, PA). The car ran 11.70s with a 427, Hurst V-Gate, and 5.13s. In the 1980s he cloned it as a Z/28 with a candy-apple green paint job. Sold it to a gentleman locally in the 80s who I believe sold it to Brian, who restored the car.

The car was a drag raced from day one until my dad sold the car. My dad says that once the car got put back on the street with a car seat (ME) in the back seat it never felt the same. So, he sold it to get into Corvettes and street rods.

Hearing the stories of that car as a kid is what caused me to fall in love with Camaros. That is my all time favorite Camaro.

The Lowe family and my dad were drag racers and not SCCA racers. The car as Fathom Green was drag raced.

Headers, scatter shields, traction bars and Atlas mags among other things were optional on 69 Yenko Camaros as dealer add-ons. From what I've heard Yenko's mechanics would do whatever modifications the customer wanted. I know some cars had the modifications done before they left the lot and others were brought back in for Day 2 mods.

#220 This Fathom Green 69 ZL-1 Camaro is N612913 and is #36 of 69 built. It was sold new at Fred Gibb Chevrolet in La Harpe IL. It does not have its original engine. I'm not sure about the rest of the drivetrain. Chuck Huber restored this car for Joe Zrostlik back in '06. It was featured in the May '07 issue of Muscle Car Review. This car was at the Gilmore Museum for a year or so before ending up in the Shed Collection. It hammered for $700K at Mecum Indy. I'm not sure who purchased it.

Found this with some other pics of the SD, and the hand written letter of the car and engine info, don't know who ended up with the car, a good deal at 25K back then

#212 This Tuxedo Black 69 Camaro COPO is N661680 and was sold new at Mac's Chevrolet-Olds in Crete NE to Vic Keller. This is an automatic car with a column shift. It was restored by Frank Payne and was at the Chevy Vette Fest in '03. It is now owned by Jim Stubbings from Heartbeat City. It is currently on display at the Gilmore Museum. Sorry I couldn't get a better picture of it.

I recognized that backdrop right away -

#221 This Daytona Yellow 69 Camaro COPO is N620719 and was sold new at Bryne Brothers Chevrolet in White Plains NY. This is a double COPO car and only had 3.9K miles when F. Arone purchased it. It was an ex drag car and was missing its original drivetrain so in the process of restoring it with his son Caleb they decided to Day 2 it. It does have an MN block that is topped with a tunnel ram and backed by an M22. This car was featured in the December '17 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines. R. Snyder currently owns this car and brought it to MCACN in '23.

Love this car it’s spectacular BUT I’d prefer it with cragars or rockets, raidir polished , something w some flash Vs dark but knowing it’s owner is young they tend to like the dark color wheels so I get it.

#223 This Fathom Green 69 Camaro COPO is N663162 and was sold new at Malcolm Konner Chevrolet in Paramus NJ. This car still has its original drivetrain and is CHP Certified. This car has 21K miles and is unrestored with an older repaint. Most COPO Camaros built in '69 were ordered without consoles, but I noticed all three that I saw at Mecum Indy this year had them. This car hammered for $210K.

Here is picture of N693711 from Mecum Indy. I posted pictures of this car back in '19 when it was at MCACN and won a Day 2 Concours Gold award. It has since been returned to mostly stock except for the headers and plug wires. This car was sold new at Hough White Chevrolet in Columbus OH to David Waller. This is an unrestored car with only 8.6K miles. It does appear that the hood has been repainted. This car has its original transmission and rearend. This car just sold at Mecum Houston for $135K. It was bid to $120K at Indy but didn't sell.

Yes I had the hood painted when I acquired the car from Nuge. I just couldn't stomach the black stripe the original owner had painted on by the dealership, I might have left it if it had been straight. You are correct the rear and trans is the born with but also everything on the engine except the warranty replacement CE short block is original. Heads, intake, carb distributor, alternator, kick down, and even the anti dieseling switch is still in place.

Here is a picture of N613366 from Mecum Indy. I posted pictures of this car previously from Mecum Indy in 2010. This is a double COPO that was sold at Berger Chevrolet in Grand Rapids MI. This is 1 of only 2 triple green COPO's that I know of. The other is an Emmert sold car that is a non RS with a 4 speed. I believe this car was restored by Nyle Wing at Wing's Auto Art. It was in the Brothers Collection and was one of the Muscle Car of the Week features done by Kevin Oeste. This car sold at Mecum Dallas in '23 for $155K, then at Mecum Kissimmee in '24 for $200K and now it hammered at Mecum Indy for $165K. Hopefully it will find a permanent home.

Those selling prices in a short period of time are kind of wild? As a novice is that common?

Proof that an inside out, upside down cowl seal is worth a good 35K. :)

It's not uncommon to see a car that sold at one of Mecum's lesser auctions show up months later at Kissimmee or Indianapolis and sell for more so the difference from Dallas to Kissimmee isn't surprising. The fact that it sold for $35K less at Indy is a bit surprising. It's possible that the deal at Kissimmee fell through so it was brought to Indy.

If you had told the assembly line workers in 1968/1969 that some of the cars they were building would be worth six figures in one day, what do you think they would have said?

#224 This Matador Red 68 Camaro RS/SS is YS8040 and was sold new at Jack Douglass Chevrolet in Hinsdale IL. I believe this is 1 of at least 10 identical cars ordered by Yenko and built the third week of June. This car was recently restored by Mike Slaughter at Epic Auto Restorations for Doug Perry and was 1 of 3 Camaros going for Camaro Legends Certification.

#226 This Olympic Gold 69 Yenko Camaro is N579034 and was sold new at Nankivell Chevrolet in Indianapolis IN to Rick Barratt. This is 1 of 10 built in Olympic Gold and I believe 1 of 6 known to exist. This is an ex-race car with 21K miles. I'm not sure who restored this car, but it was recently completed. Doug Perry had it being judged for Camaro Legends Certification.
