Is that Kevin Hands old RG Yenko Nova?
The Black Hat on the RG Nova really looks awesome to me... something about the V roof with the Ralley Green white stripe on the Nova.

Regarding the Additional Docs, for the RG Yenko Camaro on Page 3 of the added JM report he states:
"All of the Yenko Camaros ordered by Yenko Chevrolet were X44 coded base cars."
In this report JM goes on to imply that, since this car's tag is coded 'X11', the fact that it is not coded X44 makes this tag suspect. I don't know this car or anything about the authenticity of the tag, but this statement about X44 being the only code for '69 Yenko Camaros is incorrect and, on its own, does not make this tag suspicious. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. But if I'm right it is a shame this paragraph is in this report.

There are some pictures of the holding lot at Yenko showing some X11 cars waiting for their stripes. I have also seen a number of X11 cars in person and have no reason to believe their tags were reproductions. I agree that the part about the X11 tag not being legit should not be in the report. The decked and restamped block and questionable firewall are bigger issues though.
The Yenko Chevelle doesn't appear to have any issues although I was under the impression it still had it's original transmission which it apparently doesn't.
The report on the Nova seems to imply that the CE block in the car is the one that was installed by Yenko in 69. Does anybody know if that is true? I didn't think that car had the original Yenko installed block in it.
Charley, the Yenko Chevelle and Nova would look good in the Brothers Collection.

I'm sorry to see a statement so incorrect about Yenko trim tags made by someone people rely on. There are plenty of X11 trim tags on Yenko Camaros. The uneducated statement presented as fact probably hurt the sales price of that car. There right thing to do would be a retraction and correction.
As for the Nova there is no proof it was ever a 427 car that I know of. Yes there are supposed to be old pics of it with Yenko decals but how do we know Yenko didn't just add stripes to make it more sale able and never put the 427 in ? There was already one certified 427 Yenko Nova that was proven on this site by orig. owner family that it left Yenko as a 396.

I'm no expert like some of the guys on here, but I have seen several unrestored documented 70 Chevelle SS's with the trim piece along the bottom of the rocker. I don't know if they came from the factory like that or were installed later on. Here is an unrestored LS6 with the rocker trim. I think Stefano had it at one time.

Why would a high performance dealer and Yenko dealer such as V.V. Cooke need to ship in a 396 Nova from Yenko? The 396 Nova sold at Yenko was converted and documented as a 427 car years later when it benefitted the owners at that time. Yes, uneducated statements presented as facts do affect the values of these cars.
Have any of you guys that know JM asked him about the tags? I've spoken to him on the phone a few years back, but don't feel that I know him well enough to question him. Couldn't hurt to ask?

There are documented 396/375 1968 COPO unconverted Yenko Camaros sold at dealers other than Yenko. The X11 tag statement is ridiculous. I guess the X66 Yenkos are all now suspect as well. And there are DOCUMENTED Yenkos that never had the bowties removed. And how in the world could anyone state that a CE block in a Yenko Nova is the one that it came with?..BKH

I wish I had the coin to buy up all those beauties!!! They're all keepers.
a number of mistakes in the Yenko Chevelle CHP certification.
states that Yenko records show 95 were built but the production number used since the 1980s is 99 and I never heard any other number used.
I guess it could be a typo but it is in two different places in the certification
a few mistakes under the CHP cert option list one obvious one is the COPO 9737 is not listed although it is shown on the original Yenko order form included in the report. Order form shows it as the Yenko Sports Car conversion option.
The COPO 9737 was one of the unique highlights of the Yenko Chevelles so would think it is an important option to note.
also shows tires as F70x14 but the Yenko Chevelle used a special F70x15

This is Howard Cox's old Chevelle and Stefano brokered it.
As far as the rocker moldings, this is a long standing argument. I have photos of 454 cars from back in the early 80's with rocker moldings and the owners swore they came that way. However, I have NEVER seen one ounce of documentation showing that they were done that way from the factory. That being said, the factory made mistakes ALL the time so it was certainly possible. I have seen that first hand numerous times. Never say never.

The rallye green Yenko should not be an X11, it is originally an X44 car if it is the one John O. owned. That body was dipped during restoration and the original tag was lost. It was an original Jack Douglas sold Yenko.

I started a thread on 'mopar prices on the rise?', under the mopar section of this website, back in July. I thought I saw prices climing and maybe we were all not noticing it.
Hemi cars are moving up alot, looking at this auction's results. Mopars in general could all move up because of the hype. 71 cudas are definitely going to get a bump (they only made 5000 or so total, all engine variants, this hemi project car will impact them all as far a value).

It was an amazing event to attend! 100 bidders on site and 40 on-line bidders. All the winning bidders were guys who were present (no on-line winners). It was quite exciting to see. On most of the cars, the bidding would go up to a certain high bid, then the auctioneer would give the third and final call and another "poker-faced" bidder would throw the next bid out starting the whole adrenaline-fest all over again. It was like watching an hour-long horse race. In the end, the auction pulled in 2.535 million dollars. And no buyers fees here, either which was one reason the bidders were going all-in.
There were a lot of TV news reporters there taping the entire event: Fox, MSNBC, CBS, etc.
I did see a few familiar faces in the seats. Was anyone else from here, there?
70 Boss 429: $265,000
67 Shelby GT500: $170,000
70 Malibu Convertible L89 Tribute: $70,000
69 Yenko Nova: $400,000
69 Yenko Camaro: $315,000
69 Yenko Chevelle: $237,500
Hemi Superbird: $575,000
70 Chevelle LS6: $155,000
71 Hemicuda project car: $347,500
Total: $2,535,000
Before the bidding was opened up on each car, they would read a brief description. They did announce the L89 Chevelle ragtop was a tribute car, which was nice to see that they clarified the description for everyone there in no uncertain terms. I wished all auctions worked that way. All in all it was a very professionally done auction. With some humor at times as the auctioneer was an old time Joysey native who threw in a couple Jersey inside jokes - all he needed was a guy on snare drum to back him up. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

Just got back home from the auction. While I only really concentrated on the three Yenko cars, the Chevelle was by far and away the best of the three. I bid you off the Chevelle [sorry Ed}. I am pretty certain that the same guy bought the Camaro and the Nova. The auctioneer reminded a bit of Joe Pesci, and he did a great job. It was over in under 40 minutes. They made an announcement that they in no way are responsible for anything wrong with the cars. You buy them, you own them. They encouraged bidders to inspect or have a professional look them over. They also said they did their best to help document the cars with outside inspection, BUT those are not to be taken as correct. Only people in the audience ended up with cars, but once in a while a phone bidder was called out....BKH

Personally I think the 'Cuda was also somewhat of a deal. Arguably, to replace some of the bad repop parts (repop shaker hood, etc) and restore this car right will take another $125K. But if done and fresh today this particular car (which I believe to be a #s car with paperwork and extremely desirable options) would be worth $500K. So I think the buyer did OK, and who knows how much higher the '71 'Cuda market will be when this car is finally done about a year from now. As for the recent market, these '71s have already been on this track, with a Curious Yellow #s Auto going for ~$500K and a #s Stick car in the same color as this one going for ~$600K. These sales were at public auctions within the last 9 months, so this data should be of no surprise to anyone. There have also been 2 other private sales in this same price range, which were also for '71 Hemicudas that had it all. Buyers are clearly willing to pay up for these '71 Hemi 'Cudas, and in particular for the "everything" examples like this one. The only surprise to me was why this car didn't get bid up another $25K more.

The GOOD deal on the Yenko Nova may seem a bit different if you had a proper inspection. Many major components and not just bolt ons where incorrect. Just on the body alone, the non 69 hood and decklid, the incorrect small block core support, and incorrect radiator and the 1972 quarter panels are problems to me. Tinted glass is incorrect. 100% of the wheel and tire combination was incorrect for a Yenko Nova as well. There was something wrong with the rear suspension as the springs were digging into the frame rails. The special Nova heavy washers at the firewall frame bushing position where missing, and that will kick the sheetmetal all over the place. 1970 and up headlight buckets to the incorrect base interior Nova dome lamp bezel and 1971 steering box. This was just the tip of that iceberg... All of these things are correctable, but it is not a top shelf car..BKH

Thanks Brian for your honest,no punches pulled evaluation of the nova. Maybe the new owner has another 100,000 to spend with you to fix it up.I don't think that 400,000 for the nova is top shelf price. Find another one for sale or that has sold to compare to.Kind of hard to establish value when they just don't trade hands but once every 5 years.Just my opinion. Also, the nova and the camaro did not go to the same buyer.

John Ursini of Long Island plunked down $315,000 for a 1969 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro, one of just 200 manufactured that year.
John Ursini had the winning bid of $315,000 for a 1969 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro.
It was Ursini’s first time at an auction and, after winning the Camaro, was asking Oseid for help finding someone who could transport the car back to New York. He said he has plans to “flip” it to a new buyer.
“But I’m going to hold onto it for a while,” Ursini said.

I assume the build sheet is not very useful in documenting the 427?? Was it an L-78 to start?? Was it a bottom end transplant?? Is this car 100% a 427 conversion?? It seemed I read there was some doubt?? How did Yenko typically do the conversions?? What's the history on the car ?? Curious what Vince's report says. Maybe documented by him years ago?????
I love the car by the way... I remember my buddy's Big Block 69 Nova back in the day.. I can just imagine this beast !!
Not saying anything about this or any other specific car, but it only takes one or two auctions where the car was sold for large $$ that the car then becomes somehow legit, especially if it had been owned by a high profile collector.. I guess they figure if 'that guy' once owned it, it must be real. ??????

Funny thing is the LS6 was restored by RK Motors!! Dave spent a lot of money with them back in the day!! Even the L89 was told to be real from RK for LS6 money..
The Vince Emme document on the Nova has a Notary public stamp from Minnesota with an expiration date of 1993 so the letter would have to predate that up to maybe 5 years or whatever the term of the seal was
