I have had plenty of first Gen Camaros and have run into a motor mount issue twice now. What is with the two different motor mounts? I need one of the thick ones. When I go to the parts store they list them as the same for both sides. Does anyone know a part number for the thicker one?

Guess what ~ the motor mounts (the rubber and metal things) are the same on both sides. The frame stands or brackets (metal parts that bolt to the subframe) may be different heights from side to side depending on the year and engine used. Here are some pictures from David Pozzi 's site that should clear some of this up for you. Google David Pozzi if you want to read everything he has to say about Camaro mounts.

The steel racing mounts are only shown here because they are easier to measure, but the original style mounts have the same measurements.

This should make things easier than having to look through all that boring information and pictures David has on his site.

motor mount page (http://www.pozziracing.com/camaro_engine.htm)

On the other hand, you might enjoy the pictures and other information posted over there.

The unstated problem is mixing parts. If you have '69 302/350 or '69 396/427 frame brackets the 67-68 style motor mount will fit on them. The fit is sloppy, the engine will be positioned too low, vibrate, and can cause clutch chatter. The correct motor mount is a very tight fit on the brackets.
