Ran into an old high school buddy of mine tonight. He was the kind of guy who just amazed you with the finds he was getting in '81-'83. I remember him getting a Chevelle w/ a cowl induction hood for $25. He mentioned he still had his Z when I asked about what he had from the glory days. It has only 48k miles and he believes the black paint is all original. I'll have pics of it within the next week as he invited me over to see it in his converted Amish barn. Being he's just an old farm boy I suspect it'll be dust covered still.

It would be rare if it is a factory black car as that was not a standard color on the Camaro in 1970. Take a picture of the cowl tag if you go look at it.

I found out where he lives currently and realized I pass his place every time I head towards the in-laws. Will wheel in next time I see his truck in the driveway. They'll be the best iPhone pics I can get. Is a 4spd car.

Hi Lon, this is a very interesting unrestored car, perhaps he would be interesting in having it Vintage certified at MCACN or just display it along with other unrestored cars. The Vintage Certification website link is below. BTW the MCACN show is the perfect venue. My contact info is listed on the website.

Let me put eyes on it and take pics to determine its' originality. As far as it getting out to a show I know this guy well enough to know it'll probably never happen. It's not his style. He likes to go to car shows & swap meets and he'll talk about his stuff but I've known him since the 80's when we had high school study hall together and I've never actually been "up close" to any of his garaged stuff.

Any news on this, Lon?

I have stopped down many times now and haven't found him at home. The one time his truck was there he wouldn't answer the door. Think I'll try right now come to think of it.

Had to run out to the farm to catch up with him! Don't know when we'll get together as he spends all his daylight hours working the farm and his garage doesn't have lights yet. At least I have his cell number now.
