A family friend is "bored" with a 69 camaro that he bought a few years ago and he wants me to buy it. I know that this is probably the most popular musclecar out there and was wondering if there currently is a price guide out there to help determine value? If it was a ss396 I know that I could just blue book it but when it comes to clones, I am not sure where to go.

What I know about the car:
I have only seen pictures of it but plan to go see it in a few weeks.(won't have pics till then)
69 dressed up as an SS.
I believe its a clone due to the owner telling me he added disc brakes.
Fairly new 350 crate engine 290-330hp
turbo 400
Clean stock black interior
clean stock appearing under the hood.
Teal or blue paint (not original)
very dated 80's mags.
The body is very clean but does have some small scratches and imperfections. Call it a 2-.
Runs and drives great (according to him)

He thinks it is worth 12-15K but would sell it to me for 12.

I guess that I am asking for is some sight unseen suggestions. The market seems up and down but do you think I would safe at 12? I am way more familiar with this vintage of nova.

Depends on how much rust, either obvious or hidden.

Take a REAL body shop guy with you; someone with experience not only with collision repair but someone who has fixed poor repairs on older cars.

If it is truly rust free and not full of bondo, you can't go wrong at 12k, even if the paint is mediocre.

Thats my thought on it at this point. My father in law (Anal body man) inspected it before our friend bought it and gave it a thumbs up. However, he passed away a few years ago and I cant ask his opinion anymore.

Looks to be a good deal even if it was possibly a 6 cylinder converted to a v8. If it runs good and can drive it as is 12k sounds good.

Try to find another that decent for that price, not likely.

From the pics, it looks like a good deal as long as it's solid underneath and not full of mud.
