Very rare 1970 Monte Carlo 402/4 Speed. One of only 600 4 speed Monte's made in 1970 (that includes all engine configs but 454, no 454 4 speeds were made).
Fully frame off restored, and everything works, even the AC (but does not blow real cold, just cool). Even the door buzzer works.
Original Build sheet. Nice rare color called "Black Cherry".
All original "Born with" driveline and sheet metal. Car came with fender skirts originally, but they are not on the car, but a set come with the car.
Only incorrect item is the black carpet. It should be tan, but black looked so much better.

Caution Fan sticker coming off after resto!

Modestly priced at 30,000.00 . You could not restore one for this price, and with a desirable color at that. The rare 4 speed makes this a very well bought car.
You can contact me by cell at 504-913-3618 (8am to 9pm Central please)

This car rocks... good luck w the sale !!

Sweet car! I just bought one back I sold about 8 years ago. Factory ordered Hugger orange / 4-speed / big block, and has buildsheet. Should have in a couple of weeks. Sorry for hi-jacking, but I couldn't believe this one just came up for sale a day after I repurchased my old one. They are pretty rare. Mine is a "K-Wizz" type converted car. Ken didn't do it, but it reminds me of one of his conversions. LS-3 / Tremec 5-speed, full hotchkiss suspension, etc. and I get original engine / trans. Guy even took a 1970 Cowl induction chevelle hood and added front of existing Monte hood to it, looks awesome. Can't wait! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif Good luck with the sale. Dave

Thanks guys, this is for sure "something different". This Monte recently won 1st place at the local boy scout show, not a national show, but had over 100 cars.
Here's a shot today with no "caution" sticker and the correct 402 sticker <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

Awesome on the recovery of your car, and rare as these are, odd that they are both being discussed. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

Dup... I am an idiot. I mixed up the Chevelle and the Monte. The Chevelle's AC does not blow cold, the Monte does not have AC (which would also be why it didn't blow cold <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif ). Sorry for the mixup!
Thanks for pointing that out, and as some have requested, Ill post more pics this weekend of the trunk and undercarriage.

Is there a breakdown of big block/versus small block 4-speed cars made?

This was printed in the NMCOA magazine many years ago.
I'm fairly certain they have the 71 402 & 350 4 speed totals reversed.

Thats probably where fgmcc.com (monte first gen site) got the "600" number from, looks like that is just for 402's though.

As requested by a few guys, pics of the BS and trunk. Will get some underside photos this week
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ELKGN5uvffo/VCAlc0R9T-I/AAAAAAAAAvE/uGdRs-XjXuQ/w794-h549-no/MonteBS.jpg
You can see the RPO for the gauges (U14), and console/buckets(D55), as well as the Skirts (T58). Also this was a Posi car from the factory (G80). This is a photocopy of the original, which I have.

Did not know they made 400 4 speed montes?? My buddies was a 350 4 speed. Cool stuff... I put a 400 from a Monte in a 69Z years ago and had a heck of a time finding a flywheel... finally got one from a truck. Cool info. Thanks for sharing !
Great car.. !!

Chevrolet offered 2 400's in the Monte in 1970,
you could get 4 speed with either.
400 small block 2 bbl 265hp
or LS3 400 BB 4 bbl 330hp (was a 396/402)

Thanks Guys, for Kev and the other guys that called yesterday, I was out all day and not able to take calls.
I will return them today.
The Fender skirts are one of those love/hate things <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif Some guys absolutely love them, others.... Not so much.
Bottom line on this car... A few things are incorrect (black carpet, no skirts), but this is the cleanest Monte that I have ever seen.
There are usually no other Monte's at shows, so this car usually draws a crowd, and is unique.
A real gentlemans muscle car!

Is there a way to tell how close are cars were on the assembly line by the buildsheet? this is from my car. If I need to post this elsewhere let me know. Dave

Here are some of the additional pics requested. The guys were doing some sheetrock work on the second story of the warehouse and an exhaust fan blew dust into the warehouse, so please excuse the dust. Also went through the paperwork today and found a second build sheet in the folder, so the car comes with two build sheets. All the metal looks good, no bubbles anywhere, no detectable bondo. Carb seems to be a later model, and the fender wells are repop. Can't tell on the fenders, they seem really solid but...... Engine stamp looks as good as I remember and the underside of the car is really detailed well.
