Bought this car a year ago April from a member on this site. Doing it all in my garage, but the car is leaving soon to go to my paint/bodyman for a few months or so for him to apply the Dover White paint. I have a whole album of photos on Facebook, but here's a few for L78 Nova fans to view:http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics/usergals/2014/09/full-5898-16385-006.jpg

Thank you all for the comments. I trust my paint job will come out great as the same guy that painted my Impala a couple years ago will be painting the Nova and I am very pleased with his work.

Here is the Impala at a local show with my 5 year old holding the "Best Chevrolet" award that day. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics/usergals/2014/09/full-5898-16420-083.jpg

First picture of black rims with dog dish hub caps.

That picture on the trailer with black rims and dog dish caps is how I received the car last year. Those wheels were the wrong size and I have since bought 14x7 wheels and painted them in Dover White, as shown in 4th picture.

Most cars I saw in the 60's and 70's had black rims. I also worked at a Chevy Dealership and most car's had black rims. When I saw the Black Rims on your car it brought back memories of that time.

While it is true most of the steel wheels were painted body color...my first L78 car, Forest Green 70 [back in 1973 <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif] had the 14 x 7 wheels and they were black from the factory. Not sure if this was a mistake or intentional?? I remember this because the car had Cragars and aftermarket tires on it when I bought it and the XT's were in the trunk.
**another interesting thing about that car..it had power steering and a 3.55 "open" rear.

I don't know for sure I heard somewhere that if the car had dog dish on it they were body color. If it had the full caps they were painted black don't hold me to it.

Yes that is true but at the dealership if they swapped wheel covers or hub caps, out of a stock unit, any thing could go out the door{it is not like it is today}. I still like the car and you are doing a big job on it,that is so cool.

Nova is now with my painter for the next 4-5 months. As I run him parts and progress payments, I'll post some occasional photos...http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics/usergals/2014/10/full-5898-16892-016.jpg
