I have access to an early original L79 350ci/350hp Nova ZI Short Block that was just purchased today. I believe the full VIN should read 118376N126870. I don't know if the car is out there but it would be nice to re-unit them. The front Pad Stamping reads as follows: FI2O1ZI (December 1, 1966).....791362 Block Casted Date: K 4 5 (Nov 4th, 1965)

That's a very unique block. I've had 2 over the last 30 years. Early Nova with recessed oil filter pad. Good luck trying to finding the original car, that would be great if you did, other wise it's still a valuable piece with the ZI stamp code on it.

Is F1201Z1 {dec 1,1966} a for a 1966 car or a 1967 car 327 ci 350 hp. Can any one help. Also wish I had it too.

I would say it was made on Dec 1, 1965, casting date is Nov 4, 1965 and VIN starts with 16N. All indicates it is an engine for a 1965 car.

By December Chevy was well into the 1966 production year. This block would be for a 1966 car. The ZI code is for a 1966 327/325 Nova according to the info I have.

327/325 HP was only 67 L79 and only made 6 or 7 of them from May-June of 67. Very late build for these cars.

I would think that a Dec 1,1965 built block from a K 4 5 Nov 4,1965 cast date block would work. I think that this is it.

Definitely from a 1966 model year car, Dec. 01/65 engine build and Nov. '65 block casting.
The16N stamping indicates;
1 = Chevrolet
6 = 1966 model year vehicle
N = Norwood plant built
And when using the last six to search for the car, although most were SS 2 Door hardtops don't forget non SS cars and other body styles such as a 2 Dr. Post car w/ VIN 114116N126870 etc.
