great story, thanks for sharing. Nothing like the father and son bond, I wouldn't change mind with my dad for anything, priceless. Jim

I wish I could have that kind of bond or connection with my dad. My dad never worked on a car and berated me mercilessly when I showed an interest. He would tell me only dumb people work on their own cars, smart folks have others do the "dirty" work. Dad would never offer me a car he had that I liked, like our '64 Electra 225 vert. He would not help me finance some of the cool finds I wanted, either. No fond memories. Dad would not let me drive his cars either...said he did not trust me and I would tear it up. He would not let me service his cars either...you guessed, he did not trust my work. Dad never accepted or understood me or my passion to work on stuff. He is gone now. I try to do all I can for my son and daughters. My son goes to the drags with me. I never get rid of anything and I know I should, but if the kids show an interest, it (cars, etc) is there for them.

Cool story! That's great he found it and got it back. I remember my Dad working on his cars when he had the chance or actually needed to because he had to get to work or get somewhere. I think that's where the spark started for me. And my big Brother also! So Dad started it, big Brother fanned the flames, the flames burned though me and into my little Brother. It's a family affair!!

i was driving my dads cars/hotrods when i was sixteen and still do to this day. people would ask my dad why he would let his son drive his cars. his response to them was that he thought more about his son then his cars. i got a really cool dad, and he still is to this day. heck in high school my buddies would come over to hang out with him and go cruising while i was out with my girl friend. LOL Jim
