Wow cool car... I was asked to look at this ad.
How about a picture of the trunk.
How is the frame on the car?
I see the vinyl top is lifting how is the roof skin?

Buy it and then call Jason Hale for the resto....
That rust won't scare him...and besides, he knows a little about L79's with A/C <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/wink.gif <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/worship.gif

Agreed....But he did say restored correctly. Is that my eyes, your eyes or the community eyes.
I pm'd him... That isn't a question that should be posted here on someones for sale post. The car is cool I did a 67 chevelle and had a frame issue. Actually in that same spot but on the drivers side. It's a poor design and being from the north east just gives the car 1 strike against it IMHO.
As for being an L79 with AC that sure didn't help my 68 L79's nova value.
scott s
10-22-2014, 03:48 PM
Yes depends how far u wanna take it ,I bet u could get it back to really nice driver/local car show quality for under 20k.Jason there are a lot of factors about this car vs your nova thou.#1 orig eng car #2 its a 67 l79 car ie: aluminum intake, holly carb etc #3 its a 67 chevelle #4 its a 4 spd #5 its black over black....just comparing apples to oranges against your nova....no offense...as for the frame issues they are a very week point on most all 64-67 cars espically north east cars...but they are plentiful if u search.

10-22-2014, 04:15 PM
Scott, is there any paper work for this car? I specialize in these car's mostly 67 L78's and I think your 20k will fall short unless your not counting any labor. Paper work would really give the car a boost considering the condition.
SS427
10-22-2014, 05:01 PM
No offense to Scott but $20k would not even cover bodywork, paint, sheetmetal and materials to do that work, "restored correctly". If you are talking about a collision shop type job and NONE of the pitting in the frame fixed than maybe.

All u guys are correct if its done to the 9 and u have to pay someone for everything I agree...I was talkin decent driver cond and someone who is handy enough to do some stuff themselves .Its just a nice real (silver intake) proj car that is all#s matching and a good color for under 15k ,I think we can all agree we haven't see that in a while!!!

Some buyers want a nice unique car that they can see as an original before they restore it.Some people cant afford a restored car. Its not always about totaling up the purchase price with resto cost and needing it to be equal to or lower than market price of the car done . If that were the case, every car needing resto that is worth under 150K restored would have to be free, or in most cases the seller would have to pay you to take his car for free......

Well said Chuck. Not everybody needs a fully restored car either. I personally enjoy driving ratty unrestored cars more than restored ones. More conversations are started and you don't have to worry about where you park or if your butt is dirty when you get in.

The joy is taking this car in this condition, taking time lapse photos and video of the restoration process and looking at the final project and feeling the pride of restoring a car of your dreams or of your past. This car will look awesome when it's done!

Agree Chuck - I'm one who would prefer to know what the car started as, what goes into it and who does the work. Why I'm upside down on most of my cars <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

Thank you and SO true. Many times I argue with customers over this. I usually wait till they are about done arguing and then comment on the $70k Ford F450 dually they drove to the shop that likely depreciated by about $2000 in value just in the time it was sitting here. The point usually gets taken.

I can just see the car restored. Black/black with that gold interior. (Discs?) Stock wheels with dogs or wheelcovers, pinner whitewalls. Nice L79 sound through the Gardner dual pipes. Nice change from all the SS396s out there.

"so now i have bullet proof factory docs to support the car was born a factory hipo 4 spd a/c car all #s match (not that it needed them) and its still forsale dunno tuff crowd... "" ... Have the marshalls come and seize it and have an auction ,it will sell for 50K and youll have 50 people fighting to overpay . Buyers want to think theyve come across something not seen in ages, and that they are the first ones to get a crack at it. If its on the market a few days and still for sale, they dont want it,that is, until you say "sold pending payment"

That is because the demographic of internet users varies so much. Some use it every day, others once a week or when ever. It's probably safe to say that the younger people are using internet more then older people.

If I'm not mistaken........the cast iron manifold is correct for 67 L-79's.......they were rated at 325 H.P. not 350 like the aluminum manifold/Holley carbed cars
DannyD
10-28-2014, 09:55 PM
67 L79's in Chevelle's and El Camino's are aluminum intake manifolds. I have owned several documented cars. The red El Camino is a local car to me and is an L30 car (327/275 hp car).

Why was the 67 L79 rated at 325hp in the Chevelle/Elco when it still had the aluminum intake/Holley??? I understand the lower rating for the Novas with cast iron intake and QJ...but, why is it lower in the Chevelle <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/hmmm.gif

Some say that GM didn't want the L79 small block rated higher In horsepower than the base model SS 396 car. The L79 has 11.1 compression, Holley carb, and a hydraulic cam and all were 4 speed cars with 12 bolt rears.

That sounds ok...but, why wasn't it an issue in 1966 then...the L79 was rated at 350hp in the Chevelle <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif

Gm could,t have a chevelle rated at the same hp in 1967 as the corvette which was about a $1,000 higher price tag....They were afraid the corvette sales would have suffered so they rated the engines 25 hp lower but in fact they were identical...
WILMASBOYL78

I don't know if any were produced...I was just looking in Colvin's book at engine options and hp ratings....
I would imagine a stripped down 66 300 deluxe, rubber mat, L79, 4 spd, 4.10 gear, would have been a real eye opener for the garden variety SS396 <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/naughty.gif
