Just wanted to express thanks to our Southern neighbours yesterday who displayed real empathy when our Nations Capital was assaulted by a lone gunman. Fortunately there was only one(that we know of) and only one Casualty. The kind of immediate support by your military and the empathy shown at the Pittsburg hockey game as emotionally overwelming.
I regret our Nation's Capital may never be the same as we now need to make changes to security and may no longer have the open doors to our citizens.
To Kevin Vickers, the Seargent at Arms in our parliment, a retired RCMP officer who shot the lone gunman, his words to his collegues when he entered the parlimentary chamber were "I have taken him down". The mounties always get their man!

Well said Paul.

I was really touched when I heard about the gesture at the hockey game.

Since the shooter was wearing body armor, he took quite a few bullets to the chest to no avail. Kevin Vickers was able to bring him down with bullets to the head
Great Job !

Hell, I was just excited to get to sing O Canada with Jimmerson. I'm touched to hear that it was so well received by our northern neighbo(u)rs.

I almost started a thread on this subject yesterday to express sympathy to our many Canadian friends on this site, but was afraid to start a thread that could be perceived as 'political'. Anyway, so sorry for your loss, not only the guard who was assassinated, but for the loss of certain freedoms that your fellow citizens are bound to experience in the future <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/frown.gif

This isn't about politics...it's about standing up for what is right and offering moral support to our most important neighbor and ally. To say nothing...or worse to do nothing is not an option.

There is no room in a our society for those wish to do us harm or undermine our values and freedom. No politics...just fact.

A very sad day indeed. Thank you to all here. Your words mean so much.
The people who do these things are the lowest level of humanity. They must and will be stopped and our countries will grow stronger because of it.

Thank you again. You guys are the best
