396 Carb

Hi guys.
I currently have a mid 80's Q Jet carb on my 70 SS Chevelle that is in need of some attention. What are the chances of getting a correct era, rebuilt carb with an electric choke basically ready to bolt on? My current set up runs an electric choke which I would like to keep and have read there can be a conversion done to the early carbs? Perhaps someone has something they would part with or can point me in the right direction of someone that may be of some help. Please let me know if I am kidding myself here!

If that carb is unmolested, you are far better off keeping it, as the 75-up carbs have some really nice features compared to the early models.

You may be right. I pulled it off today and had a good look and it is in pretty good shape. I have sent it off to be pulled down, cleaned and have a freshen up. I'll see how it performs when I get it back in a week or so.
