I saw this recently....by Berger....
with original screws...
NOS Bidding is currently $400.....+ .
Are most DEALER ISSUED emblems now over $100-$200 in value ?

NICK CHEVROLET
TARENTUM,PA. .... any interest ?

CRIVELLI CHEVROLET
McKees Rocks, Pa ..... any interest ?

Both NOS , NICK is Metal .Chrome.
Crivelli is old style double layer plastic.
just curious... had these for decades

No most dealer emblems trade for under 20 bucks like the one you have there unless you have a guy who's sentimental about his car coming from the same dealer. That being said a emblem like the Berger one who's a high performance dealer will fetch crazy money. I have one from Knafel pontiac the I bet would do 500 bucks if I wanted to sell it because it's nos. I have ones from Reedman,Dale,Scuncio, and Tasca Ford.

I can see the Berger going for close to 4 figures. But how NOS is it ? .
new from the 60's , 70's , 80's or later ?
Being in the busines for years at various Dealerships.
Most kept there script and supplier for decades till Plastic decals & mylar took over in the 90's. .

His last one went for over $400. He lead people on to beleive it was the only one he had. How many does he really have? Looks like another buyer beware. I wonder what decade it really came from. It does not look like the one I have. Mine is not new it has some crazing in the chrome, but good enough at arms length. Sam has one on his car. Maybe he can help with the age of it.

The last ones on Ebay sold for $242 each back in August. That is a big jump in a couple months.

Correct me if I'm wrong. . I've seen Originals with sharper edges , the others look more rounded off.....
just as you see between NOS GM emblems vrs. Reproduction ones. 40 year old techniques / modern molds....Hmmmm.
am I being skeptical or critical ?
I've been around and old die cast emblems are quite 'crisp' & sharp around the edges......;-)

WHERE'S THE NEXT ONE?

ds1
11-09-2014, 08:57 AM
Tried to ask a question about the emblem. Ebay says you can not contact the seller with a question. Add says it is not the stick on type. That is obvious by the two screws in the picture.

Todd (eBay seller GM restoparts) responded to my question of originality and how many he has.

He states, he acquired it from a Retired former Berger New Car Prep Employee that he had for Decades..
his ONLY ONE . even if its a rechrome , its a cool piece.

If so,,,someone Really wants it ,,maybe for a Real Berger application.
I accept Todd's explanation, I woutld Not have without a reply....

He has a lenghty history of selling NOS Emblems and rare parts with a feedback of 100%...not an easy feat in Today's eBay world.

That has the be the fourth or fifth identical emblem that guy has sold in the last few months.

my opinion is that it is a reproduction. He might of had an nos one and copied it.

11-09-2014, 06:13 PM
That was my feeling when I saw it and now that other people have said he has sold at least 4 of them lately.

the bid goes on... posting one at a time drives the price and interest to bid at any # just to "get one"....
I see a pattern here opposed to the high volume of YENKO Emblems that are openly known as reproductions.
Price : $35-$50 each, verses $415 + for a rear panel emblem......geez ,,,
Marketing is Capitolistic at its finest.....
I just bought from retired former New Car prep employees one of each Dealership emblems: Dana , Yenko ,Bill Thomas , GIBB, Baldwin, Scunzio Berger and many more.. ...... I'm calling Danchuk now to "preserve" these in new boxes.. .
I even have a MARTIN'S AUTO CORRAL in Mylar chrome...sorry guys,, I only have. "1"....to post. geez

It does look real. I just do not like his story. This is the second one I have seen him sell. I needed one for my real car. Thanks to help from Good Guys on here I purchased one for a hundred dollars. I don't mind a guy making some money but this is taking advantage story. And if they end up being repo I hope they screw the guy to the wall. I was offered a repo but did not buy it. Again his does look real.

who had the repro ?

Someone on this site had some cnc cut from his original. He had three made for his Chevelle and used two

I think the wrong person is getting maligned.
In his feedback history, he has 58 sales within the last 6 months - none for Berger emblems. None in the past year +.

I found these in sold items - none are his auctions.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/171432052311 $111 from a 71 Chevelle
http://www.ebay.com/itm/151376163617 $242 new - gmpiecesparts in St Johns MI.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/151387042182 $242 new - same seller, last one.

Kurt,
reading the description, (neatly worded, new car prep guy) the sellers location, the "relisting" (both sold for $242.50) ????
and Reading between the Lines.
I come to the conclusion "they are the same seller" with 2 different eBay ID's..,,,,How many buyers/sellers have multiple Id's. ..... to bid up / protect there items?????

I'm a dummy though......just MHO

I was bidding on one he had up for auction in Aug.
I was out bid in the last few seconds.
I received an email a day later asking if I was still interested. I said I was and asked what happened to the winning bidder?
His response was....I have 5 available.
Therefore.....he could have 5 available or as mentioned above, a second eBay ID to drive the price up. It's hard to say.
Just my 2 cents.

Three weeks ago I deleted the other sale for $242. The location and seller name were near identical. Half of this description matches the other description. I remember something about it being found in the back of a drawer. Does this sound familiar to anyone else? I know the guy had the screws for sale after that auction. Not trying to malign anyone just smell a RAT. Just glad I got one before they became unobtainable.

11-10-2014, 12:34 AM
Oh my GOD
SOLD FOR.

$690 + trip....

did our discussion with controversy drive the bidders ???

I hope the winning bidder see's our thread and the second highest bidder gets an email tomorrow asking if he is interested in "the last one"
Danchuck any one ????
I looked at the eBay one, the Members original and 3 of my own vintage emblems......I adjust my thoughts and think it IS A NEW RE*REPRO. ..TOO NICE on the Machining holes for the screws. And just to "crisp" for a 45 year old flash chromed piece of diecast.

BJCHEV396
11-10-2014, 02:49 AM
The winning bidder only has feedback of 2 and 6 bid retractions in the last 6 months.Smells fishy.

John Brown
11-10-2014, 04:24 AM
I had a bidder like that once. SOB screwed up my auction and then drug me along for two weeks without paying before I checked his feedback and found other sellers had given him a good feedback and proceeded to tell the "rest of the story". That's just one more good argument for being able to leave negative feedback on buyers.

ds1
11-12-2014, 12:25 PM
People are cashing in. Here is another one already and it is NOS also. Checked it on MapQuest the two sellers are 101 miles away. Checking bid history one person is trying hard to buy one. Interesting?

Since when can a starting price of 100 be bid up 5 times from only 1 bidder to 400 ???

Somebody in Michigan either scored a box of these or Had them Reproduced ,,,, so many 1 of Only 1 emblems are showing up on eBay , all from Michigan....1 seller (with multiple seller Id's ) has listed and relisted these numerous times as "1" only.....too bad for you Berger guys wanting and bidding on NOS generics for Huge $$$....
These are $40-$50 badges as repoes... wtf ..

John Brown
11-12-2014, 02:31 PM
When it starts at $100 and there is a $400 reserve.

Day2_69Z
11-12-2014, 02:58 PM
Doesnt show a reserve in listing.. I opened the bidding window and it doesn't show reserve not met....????

When does or did eBay show the reserve amount ?
when I bid reserve items it never shows a reserve amount,,,,just that it hasn't met reserve or reserve met.

SuperNovaSS

If the reserve was $400 than this would happen.

dead fish...

I like making money when I sell....
but everything I sell has its own merits and stories to stand on......

Hey, I just found 1 more emblem...(from my bottomless case)

I may list it with a "moderate reserve" ...come on guys , I only sell one........
at a time.lmoa

The new seller is on the other side of the state.
I'm less suspicious. I think the big $ is pulling a bunch of the emblems out of the closet/toolbox. Maybe I'm naive...

Kurt
I sincerely hope so... I can honestly appreciate an NOS one going for $690 ...I've lucked into stuff like that on occasion.
If you look back on the opening thread , I stated I wouldn't be surprised if it went for close to 4 figures.
its just "interesting" he has just one.. then another , then another.
Fortunately these buyers have deep pockets.

On another note,,thanks for your work on CRG.. I've referenced your wealth of info many times. Its guys like you that have advanced our hobby to the level it is.
Best Regards,
Tom

Just noticed the seller will not ship the emblem. Local pick up only. High bidder as of now bid heavy on the other emblem.

John Brown
11-13-2014, 10:23 PM
Ask him a question. I'm betting he will ship but just doesn't want to pay ebay on the shipping.

Well the second highest bidder on the other emblem got this one for a little less. So when will the next appear?

He has another BERGER emblem up for bids on Ebay.

ds1
12-07-2014, 10:41 AM
I tired to ask a question. But for some reason I cant. I was going to have it posted, which can be done, asking how many did he get from the Employee to sell.

leach
12-07-2014, 11:00 AM
He must be reproducing them since he has so many

ds1
12-07-2014, 11:10 AM
Add says "it was obtained from an employee". "It" 9 out of ten times means one. In this add IT must mean the emblem in this auction. And it is "RARE"

The seller does say it was "RELISTED DUE TO A NON-PAYING BIDDER". The high bidder in the last auction only has 2 feedbacks.
James

Day2_69Z
12-07-2014, 02:19 PM
well,
the same thing happened the last time ,,,with the winning bidder having 1 feedback.
Like we established before. ....it appears the seller has other Id's, bidding his own stuff to play the "contact second highest bidder " to garner the inflated price.

Maybe bidders are reading this thread after all and can see the light.
I messaged him once before, maybe another member here will do the same letting him know the 'gig' is up ....
....to be continued
