9985-mile '68 Z

I posted this over on Team Camaro but wanted to run it by you guys as well....

Anyone else remember this car from the 2005-6 timeframe? This was a pretty decent looking unrestored original low-mile car. Well, it has been restored now. I wonder what would have justified a full restoration rather than a clean-up and preservation. Anyone know the details?

Tony, I definitely remember the car. I fell in love with it and thought the vintage D-spoke wheels were terrific on it. I'm pretty sure this is the car that I traded my '68 cowl plenum air cleaner to the owner in exchange for the '67 style unit that was on it. I'm drawing a blank on the former owner's name though.

Since it has had a full restoration does it really matter that it is a 10,000 mile car?

Is the placement of the stamped block codes not reversed - or has this arrangement been seen on other '68's?
It's the first for me where on a '68 the assembly code isn't over on the right side of the pad often very close to the forward edge..

OPPS - just noticed it is a Van Nuys version - maybe that makes the difference?

A guy in my hometown bought from the original owner a nice 69 Burnished brown/white stripe Z-28 with 8800 miles- drag/street car it's entire life-period correct Day 2 equipment..Torker intake, Cragar Super Tricks, Autometer gauges etc with still decent paint and painted it red with black stripes and removed all the vintage Day 2 equipment and put on ugly as sin modern billet wheels.
