Hey folks,

Not often that you stumble across a pristine dealer trunk emblem. In this case, it's for Balch Pontiac-Buick, located in East Windsor (Warehouse Point) Connecticut, which sold this particular 69 Firebird RAIV convertible new.

We were lucky enough to find a flawless NOS emblem (picture attached).

Its occasions like these where we hope to be able to share with other collectors and caretakers. If anyone has an interest in getting this emblem recreated, PM or email me.

Hi Brian,

That looks like the one that came on our 1967 Buick Special. I might be interested. What is the size of that one ? I'll check mine out when I get back home, and get back to you.

Brian,

Just curious about reproducing these. I've got a Myrtle Motors (Pontiac out of Queens NY) 68 GTO. It has the original dealer emblem, but it has a split in it. Is that something that can be repopped?

PS. Yes, the emblem is on the wrong side of the deck lid. Still trying to figure that one out.

That Myrtle Motors emblem is awesome! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif Great looking '68 too.

Whenever I ordered a new car, I always told the dealer to leave the emblem off the back. Didn't want any holes drilled back there where water could seep in, plus I didn't want a permanent advert for the dealer adorning my car. If I liked the dealer, I would run a license plate frame with their logo.

The Pontiac Museum has a boatload of trunk emblems in their collection. I would imagine that getting one reproduced wouldn't be too difficult for a tool and die company, but today I would think a 3D printer would be the way to go.

Mike,

Thanks for the info. Love to find one of those emblems NOS, but no luck so far in three years.

I like the 3D printer idea.

That's funny. The 1971 Le Mans we have was bought at Myrtle !

I'd like to find one from Alpine motors 8n Brooklyn but I'm not sure they even had one. Anybody?

FYI, I found the Balch emblem via a save/followed search I had setup on eBay.

eBay ... so much more efficient than sweating around a swap meet. Granted, not as much fun, and thus the reason for both!
