Well, that's something you don't see everyday. It even required a stinger hood to fit.

“This is Clarence Everett’s one year old Camaro. He ran G or H/G. He was a Flathead legend in Oregon.
Clarence bought the one year old SS396 as a recovered theft, pulled the engine and installed the Flathead. Clarence raced Bonneville and the drags for about 40 years, with all types of cars, mostly Flathead powered.”

I'm beating it was a L78 car, a 325 car would have the front emblem SS396 on the grill, car being a year old I don't think the front emblem was messed with.

This can't be correct...as my brother's Camaro is a 396/325 horse car...and here's a day one picture...notice the front SS emblem...no "SS396"

I would be more interested into hear why you think L35 cars had SS396 emblems and not just SS. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif I have not seen (at least to my memory) a correct 67 L35 car that had SS 396.. SS small blocks had the SS 350.

Just noticed there are no hood springs and the hood appears to be a fiberglass stinger hood.
Also the nose stripe looks too wide.
FWIW both my L35's have just a SS emblem.

'67 SS396 Camaros had a simple SS emblem. The repop "SS396" emblems in today's parts catalogs that say they are correct aren't. My '67 RS/SS396 has the original emblem (unrestored car) and the bottom edge is straight across where they altered the "SS350" emblem to make the 396 car's SS emblem. Chevy basically "trimmed off" the 350 part. My 1970s high school buddy still has his second-owner '67 non-RS SS396 and it too has the original SS emblem that is straight across the bottom. '68s had the "figure 8" outline around the emblem and were not straight across like the '67 396s was. Repops are also all "figure 8" in outline, close-cropped around the outline of the two S's.
