Scratching my head on this one. For a Rochester Q-Jet. 12-3/4" in diameter.

Is that possible that piece was spot welded into a larger base?

Weird. I can't figure out what that would be from? Mid-70s vette or something with cold air hood? I thought they were always built on a dual snorkel base with the ~12.75" element though.

Although there is a few drilled holes around the perimeter, there is no evidence of spot welds ever being anywhere. The drilled holes aren't uniform so who knows why someone was screwing around with it.

I'm thinking '67 Olds
Closed element maybe!

It's not a Star Wars base (I checked already) and this isn't for Climatic Combustion Control.

Now looking at it on my I-pad instead of my phone I see that the outer lip
is pointing down. is that Correct?
Very strange with the two flats positioned up in the front.

Would that be used for the 1968-69 327 & 350 Corvettes that had the Q-Jets and open element air cleaners?

Does the edge look smooth or is it rough cut at all? I have had open element "bases" that were actually snorkel type bases that had the outer part cut off. Good head scratcher.

No flame arrestor or vent. Pre 66?

I wish I knew what it was - it just might be the perfect thing for me to use on my Q-jet with a reproduction '66 L79 nova lid for a "period correct" "faux stock" appearance on my '65 Chevy II.

No, that air cleaner base is much larger in diameter and has a breather tube.

Edge is very smooth. If this was cut out of another air cleaner, someone had some great tools and skill.

Outer lip is pointing down for sure.
