I didn't know Dr. Oldsmobile installed these -- must have been an experimental "W" machine ... LOL

<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/eek.gif Yup, that has to be the world's rarest air cleaner lid. Those hubcaps with the plastic "cereal bowl" insert only came on 15" wheel equipped Dodge's and Plymouths in 1969 ordered with the Deluxe Wheel Cover option. Which means that hubcap most likely came from a Hemi car since the hemi B-Bodies came with the mandatory 15" wheels in 1969.

Gee, I wonder if his next project is to convert a 1970 L78 Camaro air cleaner into a hubcap? <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/no.gif

Oh, wait a minute that gives me an idea on what to do with that original 1966 W30 dual snorkel air cleaner sitting in the basement. I have been meaning to fix the leak in my toilet air vent in the old RV. I could plumb it to the dual exhaust vents. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif

Here's a shot of my old 1969 hemi Daytona with those hubcaps. It took me two years to find enough pieces to make a full set.

The hardest part to find is the reverse painted/vacuum plated clear plastic bowl that goes in the center. They all cracked and delaminated from exposure to the elements.

I found a stack while digging around a dealers inventory one day. I made a mental note of them because I always liked them. Different/fugly in a good sort of way....It's been a few years, but I doubt they have gone anywhere. The owner was kind of a bit "off" if you know what I mean. He had a lot of good covers but mostly priced to the stratosphere....

Well at least he kept the original air cleaner.Without the spoiler, stripes and tailpipes,it would be a nice driver.

When I was 17 I used to steal my dads 67 Delmont 425 at 3:00 AM in the morning.I would pull the air cleaner off and put the base on with filter and a record album on top.Homemade open air element.LOL
Man.That car was the all time tire burner.

That's kinda cool ZiggyL78! I should try that too! I'd use a Chevy one on the Chevy though.

Oh, I know what you mean. All us Mopar guys are a bit off. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif

I made a Holy Grail find of a full set, at of all places, a local hubcap store in Milford Connecticut back in the late 1980s. I think I paid $25 for the set! The guy had them labeled as "1960's Dodge Truck Hubcaps" and was overjoyed to get rid of them. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

Sadly, I am the proverbial Job of the Automotive Old Testament. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif

I got to find and restore all these rare old cars and then sold them cheap, so that they could later make other people rich!
