Is that VIN tag legit? Of the 12 known 71 Hemi Cuda convertibles that VIN number doesn't match any of them. Does this mean there are 13?

The missing car?
Although partially obscured, none w/ Vin 24---- appear known as subject Vin tag posted below?
If true, why Craigslist and not market it to the small circle of owners...who in turn may pay too much for it also sell it back and forth keeping sale averages high?
Below info where we were last time from this Hemi ragtop thread we had going here...

If real, that price is reasonable.

I believe the FC7 Canadian car is BS27R1B295949 and the destroyed French Export GW1 4 speed car is BS27R1B269563. Also, isn't BS27R1B126869 GW1 and not GW3. I believe the only GW3 car is BS27R1B409004. Please correct me if I'm wrong on any of that.

Not making a statement either way on this particular car, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if there's more than is commonly discussed. Definitive statements regarding Mopar production numbers should be taken with a large grain of salt.

I agree. Since the Mopar numbers are only established as percentages of total production, if the final number has a decimal point and doesn't end in 0, you have another possible car!

Although I never say never...I would be <span style="font-style: italic">very </span>surprised. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif

And indeed if that is the price; bargain basement and already long sold!

In the ad he even states if you spend 100K restoring it you will make millions...Why would a guy like him decide to give away millions. Would any of us leave millions on the table ?

Take a close look at the pictures...are any <span style="font-style: italic">red flags</span> flying?

The loose VIN tag or the missing shaker cable hole in the firewall? All of the above?

Whole lotta flags.

And whenever I sell a bazillion dollar car, I always put it on craigslist. Who needs Mecum or BarrettJackson <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif

I am contemplating selling the LAST known 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible.
This is the REAL DEAL, a real &quot;R&quot; code Hemi Cuda Vert.

There are only a handful in existence, and I have been hiding this car for 25 years. Too much time has passed and I have accepted the fact that I will never do anything with it.

The price is $1,000,000 USD (yes one million dollars).
These RARE cars sell at auction for $3-4 million, and will only cost only $100k to restore.
A steal at one million.
Yes, it has the original numbers matching 426 Hemi, Auto Trans, Dana 60 rear.

I am NOT posting my phone number for a reason.
Email only.

Best of luck.

do NOT contact me with unsolicited services or offers

No kidding. If it's real, one or two strategically placed phone calls and this car is gone instantly. And that's assuming that none of the big players in the hobby had any inkling it existed in the first place. It's not like the thing has been sitting in a treeline in Nebraska or a corn crib in Montana somewhere. I've heard stories of &quot;other&quot; HemiCuda 'verts through the years; surely somebody besides the owner knows something about this one if it's legit. Or maybe I'm too cynical...

Listing has been modified. Says it's an auto car with the fender tag. Also says it's in escrow awaiting completion of the transaction and that it's going to Sweden.

My first red flag was, why not get a $100,000 loan yourself, have it professionally restored and sell it for $3-4 million in profit instead of just $1m?

Exactly. Those of us who follow these cars know who the players are and they all know each other. Even the one that was recently sold to a somewhat &quot;new&quot; buyer was handled by one of the known long time E-body experts.

My favorite part;

<span style="font-style: italic"> I am NOT posting my phone number for a reason, but some of you in the industry know who I am.</span>

Just my unsolicited opinion, for whatever that is worth! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/hmmm.gif

Hope the people who bought it did their homework !! If not they have a very pricey lawn art.

I suspect one fellow over here who could be the buyer. He is a big time collector of Mopar's and has at least one Hemi 'Cuda and has always wanted a 'vert for his collection.

He's knowledgeable but I hope he hasn't jumped the gun to early on this one...

On Moparts, someone posted the update on the ad, which said it may be going to Sweden.

That being said, most Mopar folks are skeptical this is the real deal. I guess it remains to be seen.

He has a buyer from the sounds of it!! Funny thing is on page2 of the Moparts site calls out a few initials of people!! To know the names of those initials make me <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/haha.gif

Sound like it was another former old clone car from the looks of the Moparts thread.

The vin tag looks real. so could it be a coupe vin# used on a clone vert.?

njsteve

Coupe would be BS23 not BS27. But since it looks like a &quot;BS&quot; car I guess it's an accurate assessment, either way. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/naughty.gif
