Am I imagining this, or are there different locations for 1969 Camaro front marker lights? Now that I own one (again), I've been looking at pictures of other supposedly "original sheet metal" cars and noticed that the placement of the marker lights differs. I can't be the only person to question this. I have no idea if it is because of engine call outs, (or lack thereof) or due to the stripe options. It seems that COPO cars have the marker light back farther and more centered in the area between the front of the fender and the wheelhouse. The cars with engine size emblems (with or without stripes) seem to have the marker more toward the front of the leading edge of the fender. When I first noticed this, I thought the differences might have been due to a replacement (GM) or aftermarket fender. After further investigation, some of the cars with the light farther back claim original sheet metal.
Has this ever been discussed before? Anyone here noticed the differences? Thoughts and explanations are positively welcomed!

Never noticed and don't think there is any difference on any GM 69 fender- they are punched out regardless of the option.

Eddie is correct.
FWIW, There are almost as many butchered up 67-69 Camaros (as far as stripes and engine call outs) as there are body shops. It's a pet peeve of mine. There are some really nice cars with Fat stripes, and Mr. Magoo placed emblems. It's amazing how simple it really is...

Must be the mind playing tricks again......
I hear you loud and clear on stripes and emblems; real bad on Oldsmobiles, too.

Yes. one of pet peeves too, is to see the mismatch on 69 front fenders. I made sure my paint guy centered the engine emblem on the marker light and the stripe aligned with the emblem!

I have a feeling sometimes people use the wrong bezel, if you try to put a rear bezel on the front it will be in a different position by about the diameter of the stud.
As an Aside...
Does anyone know how the fenders were indexed for punching the emblem holes?
Were the Camaro and SS punched at the same time or were they done as separate operations (as I suspect)?
