Wanted to share pictures of my buddy's Chevelle from back around 1975. Many people don't care for this color but if money allowed I'd own one due to this car.
It was an LS5 4 speed Black bench interior. When my friend bought it the clutch was bad so for a couple of months just limped along. Then it started popping though the carb. and we realized it needed a cam too. I was like 15 or so and my friend 17-18.
He had a local mechanical do a clutch and cam change and boy did this this run!!!
He was slapping anything that came up along side for a while till one http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics/usergals/2015/03/full-19220-22688-lilmike1976a.jpg

What a clean muscular street look the 70 offers, and a nice lil battle scar above the D/S headlight too.
Looks like code 58 Autumn Gold w/door edge guards.

Must have been a Texas built car with those square cornered stripes.

You got me thinking and for a 6 year old car it was far from perfect but was really sharp in the sun. There was a hand sized dent in the front of the hood in the right stripe if I remember right.

In general, bare metal silver lift bkt. used on Aluminum intake.
Painted orange lift bkt.used on painted orange cast iron intake, like this LS-5 had.
...in general.

I can say that this car had an aftermarket Hi-Rise on it when purchased and a Holley Double Pump.
Which manifold and carb. is anyone's guess because I was 15 years old.
The bracket is Orange as stated and probably just switched over from the stock set-up back then. It had big Hooker Headers and I remember a neighbor talking to "Little Mike" the owner about horsepower one night. They were just adding the #'s from ads in magazines to come up with a figure. The conversation went something like: So you have Hooker's so that's 50 to 75 and a Hi-Rise so that's another 50 then the double pumper another 50 so this car must have at least 500 horse!!!!

It certainly ran like it did but a little unscientific no?

Oh yeah another guy from the hood worked as a mechanic for a Chevy dealer and he decided that this car had a Super T-10 in it??? From the sound of this car whining though the gears I'd say possibly a M-22 if that was possible. Then another guy on the block actually knew a thing or two and said by the tach reading almost 3000 at 55 it had 3.73's. My guess now would be 4.10's.

Whatever the package was it worked, the car was cleaning house back then for a short while.
