Does anyone know how Ford Chromed the edges on these vents and other trim?

I called Paul's Chrome and they could do this, but they would chrome the entire piece and mask off what is supposed to be black.

There has to be a better way??

I have tried the silver paint pens and those work ok, I was just wanting something with more chrome. Thanks!

If it is just an edge it was probably hot stamped using mylar.
You can use Silver Leaf to do an edge, available at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Mask the edge and brush down a layer of glue then burnish the leaf as you lay it, gently pull the backer from the surface... viola' metalized edges.

Born and raised in the area, went to Clemson and then lived in Oh, TN, GA, at one point I sold/warehoused Pulp, pulp subs, paper, and Paperboard, now I reverted to my youth and just play with cars.
