Hello all. A friend of mine who is big into cars said this would be a good place to ask for help/advice. I would really appreciate any help you guys are willing to offer me.

The below car is on ebay and local to me.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Camaro...em=141626368256 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Camaro-RS-SS-/141626368256?forcerrptr=true&hash=item20f996e100&i tem=141626368256)

I have looked at the car twice. I am a muscle car lover but not very knowledgeable about cars. My dream since I was a kid was always to have a 69 SS 396 car. The owner says the motor is numbers matching but the trans is probably not. It's a fresh re-paint but still needs micro sand and polish. The car is not running as the fuel line, starter and 12 pin wiring harness from under the master cylinder are not installed.

The owner says he sent the engine to a machine shop and had it torn apart to inspect as the guy he got the car from claimed the motor had 10,000 miles on the rebuild. He personally inspected it and says that it appeared that was the case so the put in new gaskets and seals and put the motor back together.

The owner regularly sells cars that are incomplete out of his collection and he said he leaves them incomplete because the cars show well and all he has to do is put air in the tires with no other maintenance. His feedback in ebay seems good regarding cars he has sold in the past.

He said it's all original sheet metal from a car he found in Kentucky. It looks true to be as I couldn't find any seams but I'm not a body guy and frankly a novice when it comes to cars.

He said the car was frame off restored but I did see some over spray on the leaf spring on one side and a couple other areas which seemed odd to me.

I was also under the impression the car should have a speedometer/clock/5,500 rpm tach being an SS car but it has speedometer/fuel. Is this possible?

Below is a list of components that need to be installed that come with the car:
Side glass
Drive shaft
Re-paint and install 4 shocks
Re-paint and install front coil springs
Clean and install 12-pin wiring harness for ac/headlights/starter/distributor
Headliner

Below is a list of components that need to be purchased and installed:
Interior needs re-done (recover seats/4 new door panels/plastic seat backs/maybe carpet)
AC hoses
POA valve
Fuel line kit
Brake line kit
Exhaust kit
Battery
Two vacuum actuators for headlights
Vacuum reservoir for headlights
Wiper switch
Rear bumper should be rechromed
Drive and passenger weatherstrip
Radio
Ash tray wouldn't open

I am looking for advice as to what the car is really worth in this condition and any other information as to how valid the car really is as an RS/SS with an original motor. Is the car really worth getting into or just find one that's finished? Has anyone dealt with a guy in Geneva, OH? He's asking $37,900 for the car. Thank you very very much in advance.

Dave

Welcome to the site. Has some kind of small block ac suitcase on it. A cheesy repo air cleaner. A non RS wiper motor, Should have a gooseneck radiator for a ac car and it doesn't, no fan clutch, missing all smog and wrong exhaust manifolds. Dolled up car for Ebay. I would keep looking.

I dont normally post here but recognized that this car was recently discussed at CRG
You should read this before going any futher. Bottom line is its not what its represented to be. Originally was an X44 small block car

I can't give you any idea about price but, I think his advertisement is strange; how many "museum quality" cars need all of the stuff you listed and don't even run?

Pretty car, no doubt; hopefully the experts on the forum can provide you with the requested feedback.

Another fake tag, re-stamped block, blatantly fabricated car.
Fake tags need to be outlawed in every state.

I agree with Lynn fake tags should be outlawed in every state.Cars being sold at Mecum, Barrett Jackson etc. should be documented before they are consigned to sell. People who don't know what they are looking at pay big money for a car that is a fake. Its either real or not. Same goes for the stampers. People not knowing what they are looking at should pay a reputable person to look at the vehicle first. Just my opinion.

If you want a really nice 396 car in Hugger Orange, there is one for sale in the For Sale forum on Yenko.net right now.
