I had a customer ask me if they made any W30 convertibles in 1968. I wasn't sure but thought that it was at least possible. He also asked about any W30 exclusive features other than the ducting under the bumper. I'm thinking they're probably hard to validate without paperwork and owner history. He was interested in a car represented as such and was asking me because he thought I might know. Unfortunately I don't have much experience in W30's. Just enough to get me in trouble. Anything he should look for and were they even available in convertibles '68? Thanks, Troy

----Absolutely, Troy! I had one. Yellow with black gut and top 4-speed. This was in about 1978 or so and the car was bone stock and 100% original......Bill S

Good day,

1968 442 W30 production numbers are as follows.
To authenticate one must have a factory broadcast card, ordering paperwork, window sticker, or other factory documents. Remember, NO build sheets in Lansing built cars. The 68 and 69 W30's are the toughest W Machines to authenticate. If the car was delivered to a Canadian dealership then it's very easy to authenticate through GM Canada Vintage Vehicle Services.

Thanks for the information guys. I'll pass it along and tell him to tread carefully. I'll let you know if he gets it bought and the details, but I'm not holding my breath... Troy
