I've been offered a DNE 4+3 transmission out of a late 80's 'vette. Am not familiar with this unit, but as I understand it, it's similar to a BW T-10 4-Spd with an automatic overdrive unit at the rear. I'd appreciate some education in how these operate, if they have reliability issues, what shifters work with them, and what is involved in hooking up the fluid lines and activation switch for the auto overdrive unit in an existing manual shift car.
Thanks for any help!

Tim, I wouldn't use this. The overdrive unit is unreliable and very large on these and would require considerable modifications to use this in anything other than a C4 Corvette. When I buy these transmissions, I usually convert them back to a standard conventional 4 speed. You'd also be hard pressed to find anyone willing to work on the overdrive unit if it needed servicing.

Friend had one in a Cross-Fire car. It was a skip shift trans designed for fuel economy and by design forced you to shift into a higher gear unless under WOT or you had to press a button.

Thanks Matt and Phil for your replies. I'm going to pass on the trans, sounds like there's a very good reason that it's practically being given away!
