View Full Version : BARN FIND 1957 CHEVY 4 DOOR NATIONAL CHAMPION

06-02-2015, 12:23 AM
Good evening guys, hope some buddy knows this car. I just bought a 1957 Chevy 4 door 29k miles super cool nostalgia racer. I found it driving the county side with wife and kid . Its a absolutely mint body & interior 4 door that has been a racer from day one. It ran O/S and I/S, still has stickers on the car. Has over 25 class winner stickers from Atco, E-town, and Island dragway. Also I was able to get about 7 or 8 old trophies including a "ATCO 5TH ANNUAL EAST COAST NATIONAL CHAMPION TROPHY". And the tow bar was with the car. (going this weekend to look for other stuff) Car is not hacked up at all, Got it running sounds good. I think its a 283, it is a stick car. I'm hoping someone will remember the car.

Older gentleman I bought it from got it in 73 and put in garage Where it sat until I purchased it. He bought it from a gentlemen (<span style="color: #FF0000">RICHARD KARL HENLEY</span>) in Morrisville Pa., About 1/4 mile from my house. ( I don't think he was the racer)I drove right there and the house had the only huge garage out back in the whole section. I left my number. Owner called me later that night and said name sounded familiar, but did say when he purchased it there was paint everywhere I asked what color he said darker blue and also had paint gun. (57 chevy is now Blue) so maybe?

Well looking for some help finding out who raced it and won all the races with it.

Was originally silver, and is car number 1807. A shit load of atco class winner stickers.

Any help would be awesome thanks in advance.

I doubt if they could come to a consensus on how to wash it, let alone figure the value in just one day..... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif

Ha! I meant the history of the car, not its value.

Ken Gunning may know. Lives in Worcester, Pa. He has his 4 door M/Stocker that he shows and races. Says McMasters and Gunning on the side.
He used to own and race the Jolly Green Giant which was a 1957 station wagon that ran Junior Stock in the 60's.

That is so cool... You may also try contacting the guys who run both tracks. I know the younger Napp boys run E-town now and I am sure the guys at Atco may have some way of finding their old info. It's a start ...That is a super cool find

I would check with Ken at Ol' 55 in Doylestown. I think he grew up around Bristol / Morrisville area and has been into these cars a very long time.
