manual radiator date codes

Had the rad out of my 1969 camaro ss and not familiar with these codes on tanks.Ce and ih with a g in the middle.My car was built in nov. 1968.would this be original tank to the car.The tag is no longer there.Thanks marc.

IH was the left hand tank used on 6-cyl and SB Camaros from 67-69. Are you sure the right hand tank is CE and not CB? The 'G' would be the date code, A = Jan, B = Feb etc, so G would be July.

OK, CB was used in 69 for manual trans SB and 6-cyl applications. I don't know whether a July radiator in a November-built car could be possible but I'd suspect more likely July of 69 production date for the rad. Production of components may have been high at the start of the new model year to avoid any possibility of delays, resulting in early dates on later cars, but only speculating. Others will be much more knowledgeable about component lead time for late 1968 production, and the CRG guys will have examples in the database to reference.

Tim thanks for your response and possibly not the right month for november built car.By the way you aussies build some nasty engines over there , You guys are really into your monaros and holden small blocks. How did you ever get a hold 69 z over there. Right or left hand drive.

Ha! Yes the Aussie muscle cars are a special breed, I have owned many Holdens (obviously I'm a GM car guy) and the 253 and 308 can be built into reliable and pretty stout engines. Many Holdens were available new with a Chevy 350 option, so that's a popular 'upgrade' for many owners.
Thanks for asking about my car, it is (and will remain) left hook, came over in 1999 so it's been here long enough to pick up an accent and learn to dodge kangaroos. Plenty of Camaros over here these days, although fortunately only a couple in my area (one's a nice SS clone and the other is a full-tilt race car) and overall, very few Z's.
