Agreed on the rear wheels as they look like 16 or 17 inchers that look way out of place.

This was on EBay a year or so ago. From Western or Central Pa I believe.
High bid was ? $46-48 ish ....didn't sell.
Very incorrect 1980's type everything shiny restored ....cheaply done too.
Yeah, nothing to back it up nor any detailed engine/drivetrain pics, numbers or codes ever published.

Ad by a Dealer/ Speculator / "Restorer" Then and Now.......
My Question : Buy it new at Yenko, then buy a "used up" Can Am 430 from Don or ? Whomever.
Then Sent to Jenkins for a "Race Build" , shipped back to Yenko for installation & Driven on the Street ? .........Is there a Bridge in Brooklyn that swears by it as well ?

I doubt very much Joe, off the street Customer could buy a 'new C A 430' let alone afford it and then do the Jenkins/Yenko 3 Ring Circus jitter bug.
Too many serious racers / friends stood inline for usable Can Am stuff back then that ,,,,so much junk was rebuilt, saved and traded in tight circles.

As a 14 year old, myself and 'friends'. Snagged a damaged Can Am Gulf Research /Pitt University block & remnants from the side of the Hangar at Allegheny County Airport to go fast.....until NO SHOP We knew of Could or would fix it.
We spread word back to Gulf Research that we "mistakenly picked it up for Junk"
They offered a 'reward' , we ended up swapping it back for a well worn, well abused, repaired but runnable cast iron short block & "scrappable aluminum heads & miscellaneous"

Oh, its just a Yenko Block added over a Decade later......Big Deal.

The Mecum write up makes it sound like :
A short time later after purchase new, a CAN-AM ENGINE was Built by Jenkins , Installed by YENKO .....
A bit misleading , no. A lot of <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/bs.gif intentionally stated.

That's like any other car with a Yenko Marine Block added....nothing significant, special, unique or so super special.
That's maybe why its been For Sale for at least 2 Years , More novelty and conversation than $ value , collectable , investment status.

Some yo yo may bid star struck for a read between the lines smoke screen ego based 'insignificant' 69 Nova..... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/hmmm.gif

I didn't read the previous discussion again, but IIRC the Yenko engine being built by Jenkins and shipped to Yenko for the install was pretty cool since it was fully doc'd....

Reading this gave me goosebumps!!

"Of course, Don Yenko was the man who took the performance cred of just about any Chevrolet-branded product to maniacal levels in his Canonsburg, Pennsylvania dealership by dropping thunderous big-block power into his customers’ purchases, not to mention building his own designer lineup of turnkey battlewagons wearing the sYc callouts. But the owner who flagged Mr. Yenko about performing a major transplant on this particular Nova wanted lots of extra mustard on it. And he got it."

Marlin's right & car very cool also if paperwork genuine, should stand proudly on its own merits.
An original Yenko sold L78 w/ Jenkins built Yenko ZL1 engine installed in 1982 is certainly nothing to sneeze at and the car could be worth more marketed w/ these simple facts alone?

You mean a YENKO BOAT ENGINE......Not a ZL1,,,
don't you ?

YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY

Sold through Yenko's Marine division but I'd hardly call it a boat engine - since most of them ended up in dirt track cars....

I expect most here would jump @ the chance to have any cast by Yenko ZL1 'boat engine' blocks sitting on their engine stand also being good enough for da Grump says something too!
The subject style and Yenko crest casting are two but wasn't there one other or even more different main styles of Yenko cast ZL1 blocks also is there a known chronological order?

Funny I got something in the mail from Mecum a few weeks back, saw this Nova and the Yenko Chevelle both going up for auction and listed on there site as a "featured" / "main" lots. I just went back to there site and saw the Nova no longer a featured lot, actually going through the lots I can't seem to find it at all. Maybe I'm searching wrong since the link above still seems to be active or... Has it been pulled? Or sold? Perhaps Mecum found it suspect or questionable how it was being advertised? <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif

Nevertheless, when I originally saw the ad, it made me check out the Mecum site and I thought super cool ride!:)

It's still there..

S126 Star Saturday evening/ night.

A main and or star attraction vs. Featured is entry fee cost , car quality and auction perception.
It's Hype you're buying and the time the car is "Talked about" as it approaches the block and its' time there as the bidding is generated by the Auctioneer

I still think this Lot is overly Exuberant in its consigner's audacious verbage of intention,,,,
Some stories are loosely fact based .....this one is firmly based on contrived attachment to 2 Good deceased members of Automotive Hierarchy and is a Pipe Dream of B.S. twisted and entwined after the fact.

We shall soon see "How many read between the lines of fantasy and facts" as the bids are generated from knowledgeable prospective buyers of an insignificant Nova.

JMHO.

Now, if it Had a "Real ZL1 by Jenkins" I'd be more on the Historical side of GREAT, FANTISTIC YENKO Sold NOVA

I have records showing several Yenko blocks shipped to Jenkins. If I could see the front of the block clearly , I may be able to identify it more closely,i:e when cast , machined, etc.

Just went back to the link from 2014 on this car....saw the block ID on the Yenko receipt...I can tell from my records the history of the block casting and machining.

They made the Yenko crest blocks...the YENKO lettered blocks and also blocks that were not outwardly 'yenko'marked at all..also made various deck/ c.i combinations... Others may chime in that are more knowledgeable I'm sure

Thanks and that's what I understand of the Yenko blocks too but am wondering about their chronological order...blank styles first then Crests and YENKO letter style last or ???
Great info Markus and cool to hear you have info on the blocks shipped to Grump also thanks for sharing other inside info lately too!
Again other than sellers misleading description of timeline etc, the subject Nova is very cool and probably worth more marketed standing proudly on its own merits.

Pete, I agree whole heartedly......the Nova with that Engine ,especially in Black is wicked....but as you said , and my 'bashing the validity of the timeline as well as his advertising just ruined it for me.
I'm a "Used Car Dealer" brat....and his ad sucks ...
I dislike embellished content for profit. Standing on ..its own merits aside

It's a sharp looking car, but they need to get rid of the back wheels.
