When checking various sites, I'm getting conflicting info between '68 vs '69+, with console vs w/out console, and with which attaching kit.
Has anyone purchased one recently that has fit a '69 Nova, Muncie, with Console that could share the part numbers they bought?
Thanks,

For my 68 BB nova with console I used hurst 3734529 shifter kit. I actually heated the bottom of the shifter handle for a small adjustment really just a personal preference. You may have to adjust it a little to make it work. Nothing like a hurst shifter gate.
Marlin, the new Hurst shifters are made in China. I bought two new ones in the last few years, one for my 55 and one for a Nova. Both were junk compared to the old made in USA ones. Both that I bought were sold and I found old original ones to replace them. It took some doing, but I did manage to get in contact with a Hurst rep. I wanted to know why the shifters they now sell do not have "made in China" stamped on them. Apparently, printing it on the box in very small print is good enough. Perhaps Crash has an older one that you can use?

Thanks all, I just want one that works - well! I don't know part numbers, so I don't know what I'm looking for at swap meets - hence why I was willing to buy new. I don't want new = junk though, so I guess I'll have to scrounge!!

When did they move to China? I bought a new comp plus shifter in ~2009. While I did not pay attention to where it was made, everything seemed to be high quality. Did this China move happen sometime in the last 5 years?

i have most of a used kit...like the weird mount brkt etc...if youre not in a hurry...i can get it together..its older, like 10 or 15+ years old stuff maybe older...i bought it..installed it, and removed it from a Nova i built..
or i can at least post pics of the stuff you are looking for...i know its right..i built 5 Novas in a row, late 90s early 2k, and converted them all to 4 speeds and bought the shifters new...i doubt i have literature...but have the parts
OK i walked right out in the shop and found the shifter and rods...actually 2 of them...i saw the bracket in the last week or two...i will find it, and post pics...i will sell one set up if you want it used..made in USA stuff

That sheet I posted is from 2002-2003 when I did my 68 L78 car. I recently put a hurst shifter in a 69 chevelle with no issues at all. 10 times better than the stock Muncie assembly.

heres the bracket...it bolts between the mount and the trans
i will look tomorrow for it, and get pics of the stuff i have..i looked around a little and cant find it right now..

they use this bracket, but a diff shifter with lever for the Novas, instead of the 67-9 camaro style shifter

I just called Hurst, 707-535-3030 to make sure. The guy I spoke to said that the parts are made in China and assembled here in the USA. The main shifter mechanism is made here, using imported parts. The smaller parts are all made overseas.
The difference was huge to me in the way the China one shifted compared to the older ones that I bought.

I am amazed that a company like Hurst would risk the PR aspect of sourcing Chinese parts. The automotive aftermarket is one of the few markets where customers seem to care about, and pay more for, US made parts.

The new Hurst catalogs I have don't show 1969 Nova w/console, only w/o console...
So I went back to a 1995 Hurst catalog, and it shows 1969-70 Nova w/console shifter number 391-7875 and install kit 373-7131...
The only problem is after Hurst sold to Mr. Gasket around 2000 and moved everything from Pa. to Ca. and manufacturing to Mexico, some thing were dis-continued,
and around 2010 when Mr. Gasket sold Hurst to B&M and moved manufacturing to China, more stuff was dis-continued...
Long story short, Hurst shifter 391-7875 was dis-continued, but the install kit is still available(I bought 8 kits 6 mouths ago)...
If you need a shifter I know I have all the parts to complete the shifter, but all the Hurst shifter for 1967-69 Camaros and 1968-72 Novas are based off of the SMALL block shifter location...
I'm in the process of creating a shifter mount for the Big Block 1967-68 Camaros and Big Block 1968-72 Nova...
Hope this helps... Crash

1968 Nova with console used the 67-68 Camaro shifter which has a large offset
1969 Nova with console used the Chevelle type 90deg offset shifter but has less offset then the Chevelle shifter
