With all the stuff in the news about nuclear weapons...we shouldn't forget what happened 70 years ago tomorrow.

And with all the politics of the past few decades surrounding nuclear weapons there won't be a mass WWII Warbird flyover of the National Mall to commemorate VJ Day. (Like there was for VE Day a couple of months ago.)

At approx 0815 hrs August 6, 1945 and than Nagasaki on the 9th was the only way to convince the Japanese military that to continue the war was futile. As bazaar as it may seem, these two bombings saved millions of lives -- American, Japanese and allies. TAZ
