I don't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers but this really gets under my skin.

joparts is selling a fake LS6 4492 Holley carb. How does this guy....or anyone get away with this.

It's very easy to see that it has the provision in the secondary's for the squirter....which is incorrect.

He takes the pictures in ways to hide the reproduction baseplate and those are very clear but the picture of the choke horn with the numbers are blurry. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/bs.gif

His description is appalling in my opinion. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/thumbsdown.gif

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">This is a new never used Holley carburetor dated 9A1. It fits 1970 Chevelle, LS6, SS, 454, Camaro, Nova, L78, 396. If doing a restoration, this is a must for you. Why pay for used junk that will need to be rebuilt for $400-$1000 when you can get a new Holley 4492 for automatic trans cars. It has GM number 3969898 GR. The Date is 9A1 which translates to 1969 November 1st week. </div></div>

His description is VERY MISLEADING.

Sorry for the rant but for people like me, who try to be as honest as possible, it really gets on my nerves that someone might purchase this thinking it's a real deal carb.

They've been selling those for years.

Sadly, it seems more &amp; more people have become apathetic towards this issue. I know for a fact that several of my old customers have intentionally bought re-stamped carbs in lieu of buying a legit. dated unit. I'm not going to question their motives--it's their money and their car and what they do with both is their business.

It does bother me though to know that somewhere down the line someone is going to wind up buying something other than what they thought they were, but there's nothing I can do about that. I've made a couple posts elsewhere on here detailing how to spot these phony carbs, all I can do is hope someone reads them.

my personal opinion is never bought from and never will. D&amp;R classics is a much better source.

Eric, do you know when the provision for the secondary squirter was cast in? I've been told that sometime in February of 1970 they came on factory carbs? Any truth to that?

Kurt;

Sorry it took so long to get back to this. I just boxed up an 031 4492 (1st week of March `70) that did not have the secondary squirter boss present. I believe they started showing up somewhere between Feb and April `70.

I see many ads on ebay misrepresenting parts, I have send messages to several of them just to advise them that their part number is wrong for particular application they are advertising,, only to get told I am stupid and it will fit. Go Figure...
