This is a very nice survivor w/84k org miles, original top, int. and paint, loaded with options, POP and build sheet and yes it has a few things replaced under the hood and everything works, what do you think the fair market value is? I did a search and found a few SB cars listed at $17k-$19k.

This would make someone a great cruiser with A/C, 2.73 posi, disc brakes, M40, tilt, P/W. This is a 2 owner car, the 2nd owner bought it in 1977. If someone has interest send me a PM.

Nice Monte Carlo; I'm a big fan of the 70-72 generation.

I like it! Looks like it sold new about 30 miles from my current PA address! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

Bench seat, column shift kills it. Max money for these cars is in the buckets/console versions, so keep that in mind

Is that in the period when, if you ordered a "400" you might get either the SB or BB version?

I think I have to agree with Tracker on this one. Buckets and console make that car a whole lot more desirable (in my opinion). Money-wise, the estimates above probably are a little high compared to actual amounts of money changing hands. If those are "auction results", then deduct 8-10% on the net amount the seller receives. Usually, those auction results INCLUDE the buyer's premium (fee) when they are listed.
And, Unreal, I think the ordering guide spelled out the different engines by code, so the selling dealer would've/should've known a BBC code vs. a SBC code.
And I always liked those Montes, too. Had several and they make a GREAT riding car with a nice set of shocks, springs, tires.

Mr. Delorean designed some nice cars before he became a cocaine cowboy

The SS454 version would be worth some money. I believe it was avail. only in 70.

DeLorean came up with great concepts. He championed cars he thought would be both successful and noteworthy for GM. He was a visionary. But he didn't "design" anything. Guys like Bill Collins and Ben Harrison were involved in that and putting it under John Z's nose. But he knew great design when he saw it and that was his strength.

I love the old Monte's.
Great site here for them:

I have had several, a SS454 and an uber rare BB 402 4-speed Monte.
Great, fun cars with no resale value at all I am sorry to say. I would say that is a 12k car all day and night, possibly as much as 15 if you were keeping it and not trying to resell anytime soon.
Fun fact on the 70 and 71 Monte's. If you look at the grill emblem, you will see the knights helmet. In Roman numerals on the crest of the helmet will be the year of production, spelled out in roman numerals.

Sadly I think you are right. I'll never understand it either. A '72 Chevelle 402ci in that same condition with those options would bring thousands more. Both are attractive cars, and mechanically almost identical. I guess not everyone shares my opinion, because the market sure likes Chevelles better.

Or a Mustang vs. a Cougar, another great example.
Of course, it means that Firechickens, Cougars and Monte's are more available for people who cant swing the "tier 1" cars, but in my opinion, are just as much fun.

Are those small block car restored?? I'd say based on the looks It would be a 13k-15k car. These are truly great cars but will prob never see chevelle money but they do bring more than their Pontiac counter-part the Grand Prix's from 69-72. That's just my opinion on it.
