"Scobey's Auto Parts Custom and speed equiptment" on quarter panel was more than likely the speed shop in Poplar Bluff Missouri. I used to do some sales in Poplar Bluff at Body shops and If I remember correctly Mr Scobey of Scobey's Collision used to own a speed shop. I'd give them a call, probably get quite a bit of information from them.

Digging this hood Brent. Any chance you can find one or replicate it? What are your plans on a hood? Use the one pictured in your "as purchased" pics? Just wondering. You mentioned "loose parts" that came with the car, thought maybe this hood survived. I have never seen another like it.

The "original" Pro Stock guys used to do that alot n the old days. Was for show or they actually wanted to look at the tire track thru the rosin.
Grump used to do it back in the day.
That is match racin baby!

I get opening the door after the burn out, and I get backing up with the door open to stay in the groove, but having an open door on launch seems a little strange to me.

I see a Wise Speed Shop Shirt.....I use to buy all my speed parts at Wise when I lived on St. Louis area. Contact Wise Speed Shop....I believe they are still around....ask to speak with them....I am sure they remember the car. Ask if they have any contacts with the older street racers and or drivers.

I love Olympic Gold!

Great thread, are you going full resto or keeping some of the patina? I personally would have a hard time painting over the original graphics.

brent396
01-23-2017, 09:02 PM
No i not painting it at all just blending spots leaving the patina more work trying to save it than it would be to paint it though

I can't wait to see some more progress pics of this one. I applaud you for keeping that paint. It will really help maintain the character of the car. Any pics of the ramp truck?

Thanks,

Marty
