friend of mine wants to switch from his 68 dog dish,14 inch wheels for his camaro with disc brakes to a 15 inch wheels with dog dish caps with disc brakes.

Anyone know what wheel code that would be for him to search for?

According to Alan Colvin's Chevrolet by The Numbers 1965-69...Assuming the car is a '68
-The wheel application is as follows...

*15x6 Passenger, taxi & police wheel code is XT

Pretty sure YZ is the code he needs. This is a '69 big car disc brake application. If he doesn't care about codes, there are a lot of mid-late 1970s wheels that will work.

Those 15x6 67-68 style HD Police,Station Wagon wheels are Mostly if not all....are Riveted & carry the identical Dimensions as AD Z/28 Wheels.

Just helping

I thought XT's were 14x7?

XT's are 14x7. The above reference is not a good one. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

What do the "J", "JJ", "JK" codes designate?

As an Impala guy (owned many 68 SS427 disc brake cars), I can tell you 100% that there is no 15 inch wheel that will clear the 68 4 piston calipers other than the DC Rally wheels. The guys who are running stamped steel wheels on 67-68 cars are running Corvette rotors and doing some non-stock modification to run them. If you are interested, drop a note over at Impallss427.com and ask what they are doing. The 68 and 69 15x6 stamped wheels were only available one drum brake or later single piston caliper applications. Those 4 piston calipers are massive and the 15 inch steel wheels will not mount on the hub/rotor assembly without rubbing. That is why you find black painted DC wheels on several disk brake full size cars. They had full wheel covers on them and that was the only wheel that would clear the 4 piston deal.

interesting info above.....what to do? so no 15 inch wheel will clear the brake caliper...and yes, he has the double piston one on the car.

There are 14" wheels that will clear the 4-piston brakes so I seriously doubt there is no 15" that won't clear.

I was thinking the same thing.

I stand to be corrected - my buddy just informed me (different than my assumption) is that in the 70's he switch the front brakes from the stock drum setup to a 69 camaro front disc setup - so he has the SINGLE Caliper piston brake setup -

So this should be a lot easier - now back to the code chart - 15 inch with poverty caps

I like to run FN for steel wheel 15". They came on many pontiac cars with wheel covers in the mid seventies. Earl
