Got the Hitman up and going finally and took her to the track Sunday. Basic 355 SBC, glide with a lots of gear (6.15). Rob went with me to help sort things out, but not really much we had to do.

Ran several 6.70s (1/8 mile), 60’s in the mid 1.4 range and MPH 100-101. Well pleased for first time out. I would say 6.50s are possible, once we get the suspension set up and I learn how the best way to launch and where to shift.

Got lots of thumbs up and “cool race car”. Everyone was all about how it wasn’t a newly built race built to replicate the nostalgia look, but a real life purpose built racecar from the past.

Really cool to put a true "barn find" back on the track, where she belongs. Cannot wait until next year to take her to some nostalgia events.

Sitting in shop.

Photo from back in the day, headed to the track. Looks like running in Modified Eliminator class, where many of the early Vettes ran.

Lookin good! Put the gear changer back in. Need that 50lb flywheel to hear those revs and see those 70's-80's style launches.

Great car!

Has been discussed and would be a lot of fun. Might take a different engine though to turn those kind of RPMs.

A cool "Donnie White" paint scheme!

Beyond cool! A stick in that car is imperative!!! Maybe just a 30lb flywheel and a good 355 should still take 6500rpm; after all, you aren't looking to set any records. 1.4 60s are actually not bad. And I think that green car is the same one a friend tried to purchase. Neat car, but couldn't get together on the selling price; I wanna say it was north of $20,000 for a roller. I could be wrong on that price.

I tried to buy that car. I love it but just couldn't pay what the guy wanted.

I too looked at the Green car, but passed on it due to the price and a few other issues. A really cool looking Vette though.

Spent Sunday afternoon at a local track with the Hitman. Went several rounds in footbrake, loosing in the semis. The 60' times were down, which were expected, as the track prep there is less then ideal, but was still able to run a couple of 6.79s. That may be it for 2015, cannot wait for next year to see about getting quicker, as I get more seat time, get the suspension setup where it needs to be and the motor loosens up.

Stay with it Tom. Seat time, is the best thing! BBBenny <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

I wish I could say it was me, but I was so-so on the tree, the car being consistent helped.

The Vette has a brake, and I have an extra box, but though not very good at it, I think I will stick to running it in FB, more old school, cable drive tach with no shift light, one of the very early MSD boxes with no provision for rev limiter, etc. Plus I have the Deuce to run in Pro.

It was really cool with all of the thumbs up, nice compliments and lots of "don't restore it".
