Wallace Lawrence campaigned this Chevy II in the 70's and 80's. He sold it in 1982.
His grandson started drag racing in 2013, and began a search for the car. Unfortunately, Wallace passed away on November 9, 2014, without having found the car.
Three weeks ago, while at the track, we got a new lead on the car and the chase was on. Big thanks to Kenny Bomar at Second Hand Speed in Memphis; he helped us locate the car. Grandson Bryce contacted the current owner, and found that the car was not for sale, but agreed to let Bryce and his dad Mark come look at the car. After discovering four unique features of the car identifying it as Wallace's car, the owner agreed to sell. The deal was made, and they brought it home yesterday!
The plan is to duplicate the appearance from the time when his Granddaddy had the car, and run it as a bracket car.
First plan will be for a 327 to go back in it. We can't wait to see it on the track again in honor of Wallace.
