What is this 0325 for exactly? Lotsa differing info on the above, e.g. COPO / Spec Hi Perf. / 1965 - 68 Chev / 1965 - 1969 Vette ?? Anyone have a pic. of the specific 8" timing cover for the above dampener?
Thanks in advance! I appreciate it!

To the best of my knowledge, that is just the casting number of the center section of the harmonic balancer.

I agree with Phil. The casting number is the inner section of the Balancer and was used for many applications. The weight of the outer ring is what varies the balancer from ones with the same casting.

There are numbers / codes punched on the front outer ring of the balancer: 9 623 and also G2F .
They must mean something, but, what .. ?? What I am trying to establish is, good numbers for COPO L79 ???
Thanks gentlemen!

The L79 327 uses the Corvette style with the fins inside the hub.

I believe the balancer you are asking about is for a big block Chevy 396 and 427, not a small block Chevy.

Sorry, my bad, typo error. Should've typed L78. Trying to establish exactly what engine this came from.
Anything on the codes make sense?

I have a NOS L78 shortblock, tomorrow I will check the balancer markings.

I'd sure appreciate that. Could you also take notice of anything specific to your timing cover also?
I believe I have the cover that came with the balancer. Just not sure if L78 COPO etc etc. or a common setup?
Merci Mr Furback!

I believe the timing cover for the 69 L78/L72 is unique to that year only. I can't remember what's unique, but I think it has to do with the timing tab, and maybe the locator pins.

Until I (we) get Mr. Furback's response re checking of his L78 balancer markings, may I summarize a couple of things?
The casting number 3870325 punched on the inner section of the balancer was used for many applications and cannot, repeat cannot in fact be used to identify a balancer specific to an engine's advertised HP rating(s).

Now, the numbers 9623 on the outer ring mean exactly what?? Are these numbers an abbreviation for 3879623 which in fact would make it good for 67 - 69 L88 and 69 ZL-1 engines.. ??

The code G2 F means ??

Thanks!

Good afternoon gentlemen!! Kinda waiting on Mr. Furback to check his balancer and the numbers on it. Anyone else able to break down the 9623 code on the front outer ring of my balancer.

Thanks!

Anybody got a pic. of the proper timing cover that would've gone along with this balancer. Got a couple hangin' around, but, I'd like to be correct.

Merci encore - Thanks again!

The four digits are likely the last of the part number and the G2F is the date code, probably july 1972 or 82. Likely an over the counter replacement.
