Does anyone here know who to go to for original AC fuel pump restoration? Any help would be great. Thanks

Is it the crimped type that is usually considered non-rebuildable? I recall there was a guy a few years ago that was apparently able to rebuild them, but not aware of anyone that has been running a rebuilt one to offer feedback.

Goat Hill Classics is the guy who you might check with on the crimped ones. His number is 562-437-7664

I asked this guy: E-Mail was dated 10-5-2015. I never pulled the trigger as I thought I was getting re-assigned back to the States a few days after I got the E-Mail.

Thank you for your inquiry.

I just completed my twenty first run and I am actively gathering pumps for my twenty second run. I have done over 900 of these so far. I generally only do 2 or 3 runs per year based on customer needs. I actually logged in the pumps for this current run on Friday and began the initial disassembly of the pumps. I have one more AC pump in transit to me currently that is being included in this current run. If you are intending to get your pump into this run, please respond to this email and I will hold off on this run for enough time for you to get yours in. US postal service Priority mail would be sufficient as it is the least expensive and generally takes two to three days from anywhere in the lower 48 states. The current nasty weather conditions on the eastern seaboard, of course, could alter that depending on your location.

The restoration is $220 plus $20 return shipping in the lower 48 states. This service needs to be prepaid and a personal or company check is the preferred method of payment. The pumps are disassembled, cleaned, replated and rebuilt with diaphragms and valves compatible with current ethanol laced fuels. If you are planning to send yours in, please reply to this email with contact and shipping information and enclose it also with the pump. The service takes about one month from the time that I begin the disassembly process.

I seem to be the only one in the world currently doing these pumps. If you Google "crimped fuel pump rebuild" my name is the only one that comes up.

I had about 6 of them done at one time by Goat Hill...all #727 hi-perf units. I met him at Carlisle.

They did a good job at a reasonable price...though it was not a fast turn around.

Not sure how or what they are doing now.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the input. My 69 Z still has the original dated one in so I'd like to save it!

At least I think it's a date code, or maybe it's just the AC part number?

Is it XY40669? If so, the XY is the date code. Last time I looked into it, found a thread that decoded the first letter as the month (A= Jan, B= Feb, etc) and the second as the year (A= 61, B= 62, etc). So as an example, BI40669 would be February 69 fuel pump for a 302.

Good info. I got FI40669. Which would be June 69 and my car is June 18 so I would assume it to be the right one. Thanks

This is an update on my current status on restoration of OEM crimp together fuel pumps:

I am currently completing my thirty fourth run and I am gathering pumps for my thirty fifth run. I have done over 1,400 of these so far. I generally only do 2 or 3 runs per year based on customer needs although this year could be more. They are done in batches with a minimum of 20 units due to the cost of the plating.

The restoration is $240 plus $20 return shipping in the lower 48 states.

No, the "P" is very clean, as is the rest of the stamping.
