I just picked up a stripped '68 Camaro project that was originally Fathom Blue ( my personal favorite ) with a blue standard interior. I'm having trouble picturing it. Does anybody have any pics of this combination ? My Son's '68 L-78 car is F.B. with Black and my old '70 Chevelle convert was F.B. with white. I can't find a single pic of a 68 Camaro F.B. / B., chevelles, yes and even those aren't great shots.
Thanks !

That is purdy, real purdy. Is '68 the same shade of blue or is it lighter ? I like the darker blue, but anything lighter won't work for what I'm doing, it'll take away from the "toughness". I'm doing a classic '70s street machine / bracket car thats RS/SS based with a tunnel rammed L-88, Cragar S/S wheels, 6 point bar, etc. I intended for it to be something on the order of Jenkin's '68 car, maybe even in white. Finding a F.B. car changed all that. The bad part is that I have an un-needed repop black deluxe interior sitting here to go in it. I'm building this car with all of the leftover stuff that didn't quite make the cut on the other ones. I should name it Spare Parts or Frankenstein.

68 Fathom blue is darker than the 1970 version...look at some pic of the Gibb Novas...some of them were Fathom Blue.

I'm a big fan of Fathom Blue. I always thought this color was only available in 1970 because its rarely seen on earlier years.
In most cases I tend to appreciate the discrete pedestrian Earth tones sprayed on our factory Muscle cars vs. bolder colors.
Sure I love any original Huggers or bright colored HiPo and Copo cars, but I also dig those dark greens, gold, and brown shades.
General motors had some of the nicest shades of non-impact earth-tone colors. They sold very well on muscle cars.
Not all our favorite HiPo GM cars were built in red, orange, or yellow. So there's something about that Olympic gold or Paladium silver that really pop on these cars. I also love Pontiacs in Vedoro Green. Speaking of green, I think there was also Fathom (dark) Green offered by General Motors.
Great thread! Thanks.
